Would it be possible (in theory) to have a third mute function?;
Yellow - midi input mutes
The scenario is for when you are using your Elektron device as a sound module and are sequencing it externally.
So, for example, if I’m midi sequencing my Syntakt from Ableton but at the Syntakt performing/mixing, I could mute the Kick whilst at the ST (and not have to turn to Ableton to mute the Kick’s midi seq).
Maybe assign ableton midi mutes to the device (trigs) with syntakt as a controller device. I think you can probably even allow both syntakt and ableton to have control over the same midi mute function simultaneously, but I don’t know if that yields weird results. I don’t think it presents a feedback loop because midi is going out of ST to control ableton, which is in turn controlling ST so it’s not syntakt midi directly controlling itself.
Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s what I would try. Basically, you could just hop over to midi mutes and hit the trig for kick to kill it.
This is close to working for me!
I’ve had to use a m4l device to get it going, and the only issue I have now is that that I can’t invert the values… so, what looks ‘on’ (lit up) on my A4 means ‘off’ in Ableton… if I invert the values it doesn’t work. I’m sure it must be doable; I’ll message Iftah!
