I’m looking to save some horizontal and ‘depth’ space on my desk and am looking for a 3-tier desktop stand for:
bottom tier - perkons
middle tier - octatrack
top tier - analog heat / syntakt
For all I’ve looked I haven’t found anything that could accommodate this, I’m surprised there aren’t more “modular” desktop synth stand options out there.
Does anybody have any tips?
If there’s nothing available, I guess I’ll resort to making something custom, are there any decent resources out there in terms of where to start when it comes to building this kind of custom stand?
I built mine with wood, nothing like a custom stand.
Leave some room to reach the switch and cables. I found the right angle by putting the boxes on the flank, and draw the shape of the stand directly on the wood.
The other trick is to get some reinforcement bellow each box support, to avoid that it becomes like a deformed book shelf.
Leave some room bellow the lowest tier to be able to put a keyboard with all its cables.
I always end up buying leftover wood (MDF or plywood) from local hardware stores and then build either improvised from scratch or sometimes after some planing in sketch up.
@Braunsen84: That looks fantastic! Would you be interested in making a stand like the one that holds your Perkons and Peak in picture three / TR8S and MC 707 in the last picture with only one tier at the height that you’ve placed mentioned machines that could host OT, ST, DN, DT next to each other? I would be more than willing to pay you for this. Assuming you’re from Germany, shipping within Germany should be possible.
Thanks Yes, I am from Germany, but to be honest, I have too little spare time to build those things for selling purposes. You should try it on your own, because it’s not really complicated. You just need the right tools and some wood. If you don’t dare in doing it on your own, you could ask your local carpenter. I think, those stands should be no problem for him and should not cost a lot.
I’m afraid to post those pictures, but this improvised stand is much simpler than it looks X-D I just took a laptop stand from amazon and screwed it on top of an old mixer stand, which I build a few time ago.
