Anyone got any tips & tricks here? Entering specific dotted / triplet notes without resorting to awkward BPMs?

The Analog Four has a great system for shifting specific note timing around (a precise early / late value).

I’ve had limited success with Swing Triggers, but for building up complex polyrhythms it’s not going to cut it. Would love to hear how some of the long term MnM users are dealing with this.

As far as i know there’s no elektron machine that “supports” triols.
You can do them with the octatrack if you sacrificy a track where you scale your time signature with 2/3 or so. But this is still far from being comfortable.

Elektrons are step sequenced. What you want is a “continuous” sequencer (MPC for example).

The Analog Four does what I want (step sequenced with +/- offset per trigger). Except it won’t output MIDI. Classic.

I do not want an MPC. Been there, done that :slight_smile:

You could experiment with the Arp. Playing with speed & Arp trig placement can yield some interesting results :slight_smile:

Not exactly a longterm user yet, but to solve these issues so far I’ve used a combination of swing trigs with tempo multipliers (x2 gives you 32nd note resolution and the others give you the triplets you want). It’s not as precise or painless as trig nudge but it can get you where you want to go, especially at high enough BPM.

If you make slower tracks, you might double your BPM and also use the tempo multiplier for 64th note resolution, then use pattern chain as necessary to make up for the shortened length of your loops.

Adjusting your amp envelope (and aiming LFOs at it) could also help you approximate microtiming.

bluewolfse7en’s arp suggestion is also a good one because arp resolution can be adjusted so finely.
