12-input audio interface recommendations

Having trouble finding an audio interface to meet my needs and was wondering if anyone here had any recommendations-

Looking for something that has 12 simultaneous inputs. Doesn’t have to have any mic pres. Preferably 1u to fit in a rack.

My current interface is a Focusrite Clarett 8pre, which I love, but just hoping to get something that has four more inputs.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Tascam US 20x20. Thats what I use. Seems alright so far.

This looks like it has ten inputs, no?

10 on the front, 10 on the back. Loads of outs too.

Do you have a link for one? I am not finding it for some reason on the usual retailers.

Sorry , 8 in. On the front, rest is on the back.

That link is an australian site. No good unless live in Aus…

Maybe I am confused but this looks like it has ten outs on the back, not an additional ten inputs. Am I wrong? Do you have one of these in your studio?

Sorry dude. 10 in 10 out. Half asleep. I misread your original post.

(No idea why they call it 20x20 very misleading)

So yeah ignore me!

All good! I was just confused and thought I was missing something. Thanks for the help regardless.

It really seems like the Fireface UFX is the only choice but they are very pricey. Not much in the middle.

I see:

Roland studio capture $900

Rme 802 $2000

You could look at the MOTU 16A. No pre’s, with 16 ins and 16 outs. I have not used that particular one, but I have used their 828es, which sounded great, had rock-solid drivers, and hardly any latency running through thunderbolt on my Mac. Also is rackmount as you requested.

Ah, these options look good. Still pricey though. That MOTU looks like what I need. How do you feel the conversion is on your MOTU? Any complaints?

Thanks for the help and suggestions, all. Much appreciated. Somehow I wasn’t seeing these before.

Not sure why but the form factor of this Roland unit is really weird to me.

On my 828es, the conversion was great. No complaints really. Again, I haven’t used the 16A, but speaking about the 828es, my experience has been very positive.

The Roland is great. I had 2 linked for 30 or 32 analog inputs. Don’t have them anymore though.

Never tried one, but the TASCAM US-16x08 $319 has 16 analog inputs.

The Tascam US20X20 has ADAT inputs. You could get a used ADA8000 or old MOTU for <$100 and have 20 inputs.

Somehow I missed this Tascam too! Why is it so dang cheap?!

and yeah, considering picking up an old MOTU and just going in via ADAT too. Not a bad idea.

Behringer XR18 has 18 inputs and is dirt cheap… yes it is not 1U but there are not many interfaces with more than 8 inputs, at least for a decent price… usually they have ADAT for more INs and OUTs…

I have used an Antelope Zen Studio the last 6 years. Its a 12 preamp + 8 converter in and 8 out+ a stereo master. Its great and the vast I/O makes it very flexible.
I just upgraded to an Orion 32, its only converter I/O cause I got a analog mixer that I use as my preamps.

RME fireface 802
it has 4 mic pres though but the combo xlr jacks can input line level
