1010Music Blackbox 2

No, multitrack recording is not possible.

Ok, thanks!

As in laying down multiple tracks at once? No. As in playing back multiple tracks which you’ve recorded one take at a time? Yes. But likely not in the way you want. No scrubbing, no rewind / forward / punch-in.

Bluebox is the one you want for that. It’s the porta studio reimagined.

Loved the OG. Still own it, with a lot of projects on it, but don’t really use it anymore, but should really dabble with it from time to time. It was one of the breakthrough pieces of gear that was very well thought out, easy to use, sounded great and was updated frequently with new features that showed the small team cared about the product and were very capable programmers who understood how to improve it almost immeasurably, while also keeping active in it’s forum and replying to every message. Remarkably, they delivered almost everything that we asked feature wise of the Blackbox, but people are far more demanding these days and they expect a piece of gear to do a million different things.

Very tempted by this, but me having a glut of great gear these days makes me sit a lot longer and think more about need vs want. I fear this wouldn’t have the same impact as the og. Still, it’s competitively priced and maybe i’ll see a killer feature, so waiting circuitghost’s review.

Is it normal that some screens like sequencer… the lines are all jittery?

A bit headache inducing. I assume a FW update will fix it unless I have a faulty one?

That was an initial problem I had with the Blackbox 1.
Changing to a 2Amp psu made it go away.
Is your psu suitable, or internal battery going flat?

Running off internal battery, it is charged.

Perhaps juddery is a better word. Like the screen needs zoomed in or out slightly to stop it or it’s at a awkward refresh rate.

Speaking for 1010music, please reach out to support (info on the web page). That does not sound right. We can look into it at that point.

I’m sorry it’s happening.

or the Bento both look compelling but I am in the same boat and after picking up the OP XY have more than enough new stuff to mess with.

The usual ā€œblah blahā€ about me not providing ā€œrealā€ support outside of the official 1010music channels on a regular basis, but heads up that I just touched base with our support folks and they’re expecting you to reach out if you choose to do so.

Again, thanks and apologies.

Is the maximum sequence bar length 128? I’m looking at the BB2 as a potential replacement for my MPC Live. All I want to do is transfer and assign stems to pads and DJ them live while recording to grid for further editing if needed. However 128 bar length is too short, although I could possibly work around it by halving the BPM. Is what I am describing possible with this thing?

Thanks they replied already, sent them a video.

One thing I love is how quickly BB2 loads up, basically instant. The boot screen reminds me of PlayStation 2.

Anyone use this for the last couple of weeks and have any remarks?!?! Seems like an awfully quiet launch.
