0-127 values to Hz (EQ/Filters)

Apologies in advance if this has been discussed already, haven’t had much luck in finding anything concrete on the topic.

While I don’t mind them in most cases, I have a bit of a hard time translating the MIDI value range into Hz on an EQ spectrum.

Haven’t been able to find a table that would attempt to do it - the way Elektron did it for Delay timing, for example:

Is it something someone already figured out and mapped it in some way? Or is it just generally advised that we should rely more on our ears and forget about it :slight_smile:

Exactly.

Now if you want to extract the information you’re looking for, I would suggest to set resonance to max and check the frequency for a few values, then fill the table yourself.
And share to the community, if you’re willing to :slight_smile:

Oh well, that’s what Claude told me, too, verbatim :smile: But sure, if there isn’t anything around already, I would fire up Overbridge and measure some key points like 16, 32, 64, etc etc. Should be enough.

Looks like a doubling rule … add 10 to the midi → double the frequency. Except it veers of around 16Hz

Yes. Something like that.
Also it maps “good enough ” on MDI NRPN range 0…16384.

65 (396 Hz) and 105 (6336 Hz) are G’s, not C’s

Given the midi number is halfway between, I’d say F#/Gb

Two C4 and two C8, one of them is wrong for sure.

Notice the CC values for the duplicates are different.

Is half way the fifth, G ?

ADDED : Yes it is 396 Hz is a G.

It’s logrithmic not linear.

I added the errors manually, though.

10 values = one octave seems logical.

12 values = one octave would have made more sense though. :slightly_smiling_face:

PS: What’s wrong with 16? It’s half of 33.

(Well, 16.5 is, and that’s within measurement error…)

How did you measure it? At the resonant peak value or at the -3dB point?

If I had to guess I’d say 440Hz would be CC value 64

I took the number in igors48’s ( LyingDalai’s ) chart.

@LyingDalai I thought that on Syntakt (at least on UI) - MIDI 60 it is C5.
