This is kind of off-topic but was trying the Midi In > Out arp trick this morning and it went pretty well. My biggest issue was adjusting the keyboard for the right octave. Had to put it on 5 (I guess b/c of C5-C7 range) I’m able to record arpeggiator sequences via a MIDI track. But this comment here

What’s the best way to do that? It’s recording on a MIDI (for example, track 1) but if I go over to the audio track the arp sequence isn’t duplicated. I don’t plan to really mess with the MIDI sequencer right now as I don’t have any external instruments but figured I’d ask. Would be nice to get that sequence over to an audio track so I can add filters/adjust the envelope, etc…Not sure if I’m really motivated to go down that rabbit hole yet though.

This is a long thread to read through. But can the OT now receive and record velocity sensitive notes from pad- and keyboard controllers?
Can’t remember if it already did it, and that I just couldn’t figure out how to do it

So: OT can record velocity on MIDI tracks.
On Audio tracks it’s a bit more complicated than that, you would have to redirect velocity to the CC corresponding to audio tracks volume, as far as I can understand.

Reading through this topic it looks like the mapping of velocity to the OT track volume CC would have to be done on the outside and not in the OT. Is that the case?
I am reeling from discovering that the OT does not accept velocity to trigger samples from an external source. This is a very basic functionality for any sampler and is an outrageous limitation on the OT, particularly for a machine of this caliber. I get that most people will be sequencing from the OT itself, but not responding to velocity is just horrible…
Is there some other workaround for this that does not involve spending another $300 on a Bome Box and software? Is there any plan to update the OT with this most basic thing that basically every other sampler in the world going back decades supports?
You forgot that you can’t record note length. There is also a midi processing workaround for that.
An RK002 is probably around 50$.
Elektron prefer more complex updates with new features.

Personally I didn’t wait hypothetical updates, and used midi processors to play slices with a keyboard. They made an update for that !
I do wish an update for velocity, note length recording, but if it would be only one, it would be to increase RLEN defined recording length, limited to 64 steps.
Nowerdays I use OT for its strengths, and don’t expect it to be an MPC (I had before) anymore.
Thanks for the response. I don’t care about note length. I just want the sampler to respond to velocity. If I want stereo samples, I guess I will just run them out of my computer (which I am trying to get away from using hardware in the first place). A $1500 sampler that doesn’t respond to velocity is ridiculous.

Yeah - I did not think to research whether the OT would accept velocity because every other sampler on the planet does. Anyway…
Would it be possible to play slices with velocity from an push 3 standalone? Or an mpc live? Are they able to send the right midi cc messages or would it need something like the mentioned cable for that?
LaunchPad Pro should be able to do it with the right script. @qlamerand may shime in…
Once again it is easy to program with most of midi processors…

No, OT USB is just for storage ( CF Card). No midi/audio.
