Does anyone know if it’s possible to externally trigger poly mode on and off via some midi CC or something? I’ve gone through the manual and I dont think this possible. Just wondering if anyone has crossed this bridge?

You can send a SysEx message to the MM to get it to change mode: see “SYSEX set status” on page C-4 of the manual.
Hmm, interesting… I guess would it hooked up to a computer of some sort… anyway thanks. i’ll investigate sending sysex.

Capable MIDI controller boxes like the Bitstream 3X or the Novation SL series can create send the SysEx message. So can some old hardware sequencers (for example, Yamaha QX/RS series).
