MPC Thread : MPC Live - MPC X - MPC One (Part 1)

Yes, all drum and instrument programs are (sanely) browsable and loadable from the load screen, available in every project. You can use files and folders normally, and most likely the HDDs and other storage media will be directly accessable by anything that ynderstands the filesystems.

It will be interesting to see whether these will use FAT32 or EXFAT

Killer. Can see the Live becoming a behemoth portable sounds/instruments/drum kits library box  Shame they didn’t throw a low cpu Op1 style synth in there for good measure

There was a decent VA on the MPC5K…

Yeh read little about that yesterday, people saying it was the alesis micron engine, that would do

The classic MPC workflow idea wrt synths:

  1. hook up your synth of choice via midi and audio
  2. sequence your desired synth content
  3. play back the sequence while sampling the inputs
  4. profit

Don’t forget the new MPC has Clip launch which acts like ableton live and you can launch 16 sample loops on the fly. I’m not clear on the details but it looks like Ableton in a box. Maybe we can hook up a Novation Launchpad and fire off 64 sample loops at a time? Who knows?

More info on looper fonctions ?

Think looper existed in the software/touch already, maybe details in manual?

Can the pads be set to scales like on push in the new MPCs?

Pad Perform: Press this button to view Pad Perform Mode where you can assign musical scales/modes, chords,
or progressions to the pads for creative performance options.

Me thinks we are covered

What kind of OS is in Mpc Live / X ?
Is there an existing base (Windows, Wine, Android, iOs, OsX, Linux, Nokia, Gameboy…) ?

"Processor: 1.8 GHz quad-core ARM® Cortex® A17 processor
RAM: 2 GB
Storage: 16 GB (user storage, 10 GB pre-installed content), 4 GB ( MPC operating system)
" (Quickstart Guide Appendix)

-> most likely Linux

Really like what Nick says about Dan from Akai at 21mins - maybe not the best demo-er in the world but the guy’s a genius and has stuck with Akai and the MPC through all the crap they invariably get online no matter what they release.

Totally humanist viewpoint, well done Nick.

The MPC engineers always seem to be damned if they do and damned if they don’t - hopefully this is their time to shine again :grinning:

Not sure if that will work but a pretty decent guide for folks to look through for the Live

And MPCX (thanks to the guys on Gearslutz)

Sorry for the multi posts but noticed:

“Powerful AIR Hybrid 3 virtual instrument built-in”

And that has no mention of controller only… Not the best sounding out there but if that runs standalone then that really is cool.

Cheers!
