I cant get it to work on my MkI. Are there any settings one must make on the OT for it to work?

I believe slices can be triggered on a specific midi note, separated by velocity. There was a thread on it recently regarding a midi translator and that fancy Retro Kits - 002 cable.

How is your iPad connected to the OT? Are your MIDI Channels on the OT the same as the ones you set in Options in the app?

In the OT System Prefs MIDI CONTROL, make sure you are letting the OT send and receive Audio CC. I should add that in the readme, let me know.

Iconnectivity Mio is good and cheap 1in/1out.

I use an Maudio uno class compliant midi device I’ve had for more than 10 years, even cheap pc USB cables work on iPad. Like 2$ on eBay. As long as they are class compliant midi the iPad works.

One thing though, make sure you buy a legit camera connection kit for the iPad. Only problems I’ve had with iPad midi connection were all fixed when I bought a legit cck interface

Triggering slices with midi notes?

You can trigger slices and slots with OT trigs. If you can do a midi dispatcher with Axoloti, slice triggering should be easy. Map notes to CC48 (crossfader), map notes to note 84. CC48 must be sent before note. You can add CC17 (start/slice) between if you want to record slices. Scene A = Slice 1, scene B = Slice 64 I’d like slots midi control too.

Testing the mod matrix with some Bach Preludes, not too musical (at all) but you get the idea. Each control can be assigned up to 8 parameters and can snap back, animate back, or lock in place. If you like a combination / amount you can commit those values to the Octatrack.

I’m not clear on how to assign the momentary sliders on the left and right sides.

Not possible in this version. The left only controls sample start offset and the right controls certain FX parameters, depending on your FX Type.

The update this week will include the new view mode where you can assign multiple parameters to controllers like in the above video, animate them, commit and morph their values, etc

After that I will do slice triggering and Pickup Machine tools

Thanks for this! Looking forward to using Manifold but I can’t connect it to the OT. No way to select in Manifold what MIDI device to connect to. I’m using iConnectMIDI1 and iPad Air 2 (64-bit) running 10.3.1. Connections and MIDI channels are correct because Gadget and Animoog respond to and send to the OT. On the OT, Audio CC In/Out are on as are Audio Note In/Out. Nothing. Manifold neither sends to nor receives from the OT. In the iPad’s settings, I don’t see Manifold so I can’t make adjustments that way either. The site that your app links to in the App Store is also down, so there’s no way to leave feedback other than here.

I’m sure I must be missing something. Disappointed. Hope I’m doing something wrong.

It will auto-detect and send to all MIDI connected devices at the moment, there is no way to select a specific interface in the app. I’m using the AudioKit library for MIDI connection so it should be rock solid.

You have the camera kit connected to the iConnect which is connected to the OT?

What happens when you connect the camera kit / hub before starting the app? Any difference? I wasn’t rescanning interfaces if you connected after starting the app, but I fixed that today (for the next update).

However, when I’m doing Link, knobs don’t update if they have been edited previously by the iPad or by the OT or by randomization. The same with Reset. I was hoping pressing Link then Reset would reset all parameters to their init state. Maybe I’ll need to save that state as a Snapshot.

I know you said it’s not intended to be a librarian but it would be so cool to save an entire session as an email attachment. Pretty please?!

Would like to see a way to select only fractions and whole numbers for the RTIM parameter, the way we can do on the OT by holding down FUNC and press-turn the F knob.

Can’t wait to see more parameter pages, including for the MIDI sequencer, if that’s on your roadmap.

Just a few of my early thoughts. Will play with it some more over the next few days. Looking forward to what you’re cooking up.

• LINK does not deal with the side Functions. It is meant for moving the Dials manually, Double-Tapping (reset), or Triple-Tapping (random).

• If you want to Reset all parameters, go to Function Mode, select all your Tracks / Pages and then hit Reset. You could do that in Parameter mode as well, but that can only affect the active track. Make sense?

• In the future there will be a Save / Load menu where you can save to disk. Right now the current state and snapshots should save and be restored when you quit.

OK, got it. I mistakenly thought that using Link sets every track to the same value. Instead, moving one disl offsets all other tracks by the same amount. Nice.

More feature suggestions:

• Ability to copy a page and to copy a parameter, in addition to the current behavior of copying a whole track.
• A toggle to make the keys bigger

I can see this will work well with OctaEdit to quickly build a library of different settings.

• Page copying is a good idea, I might have a toggle that turns Dial Long-Pressing into a Copy / Paste page action…I’ll play around with it

• The small keyboard will remain, but when I implement the Slice Triggering mode there will be a fully featured chromatic / slice keyboard. I’ll make the mini keyboard a tiny bit taller in the meantime

The new mode for this week will make the App 100 times more useful, it works really nicely!

So great! Will you be able to use an external usb midi keyboard with slices? That would be a game changer.
