How to store a song performance on A4?

Hi all,

how do you store your song performance on Analog Four?

What I would like to have is that I have a song that I can perform and isn’t destroyed in any way later on (while editing sounds or so) and I could store it on the machine to be performed any time. I have got into conclusion that I should make a new project for each song? I hope I’m totally wrong

This pattern, track, song, sound, kit mess makes me crazy. I don’t really know how to store / save them properly.

BTW: does anyone know a tutorial how to load a sysex-soundbank to A4. I tried some but I couldn’t find all sounds I had loaded and it also seemed to be a mess. Where does the sysex-loaded sounds appear? Do they overwrite some bank when loaded?

if you save what you like, all elements, then changing or performing it to your heart’s content is fine so long as you don’t save again any of those specific elements or slot references

then just reload after you’ve messed about

yeah projects should probably be looked at as the safest way to keep individual groups of highly related ideas together, probably simplest conceptually, then you just have to deal with navigating around projects and saving them etc

if you go into the sysex receive side of the A4 you can direct the import, it generally doesn’t overwrite as such, it’ll be in +drive, if there is space

ok! so the solution is: every new song is a project. otherwise you will mess songs up. and if (?) there is actually 128 different projects, that’s enough for everybody ™.

found some answers here:

Not a solution at all if you’re gonna use it live. Bank per song (or a couple) is simple and effective as long as you keep a note of what’s where

I tried the “project per song” yesterday and I found it a good solution. Loading doesn’t take that much time. Maybe 5 seconds?

And for the loading of the sysex files, the problem was that I was using USB-MIDI-adapter and that didn’t work out. It communicated in some levels with A4 but when I switched to direct USB connection, I could load the kits / sounds etc. easily. Dunno why it didn’t work through the MIDI-connection … Everything was correct but the sounds just didn’t load at all. C6 app started transfer but A4 just said “waiting data” or something.

What do you mean by bank per song ? Why isn’t this useful live ?
