BPM Drift & Sync Issues

When using my Digitakt, the BPM sync drifts +/- 2 or 3 whole BPM.

This drift becomes completely unworkable when I;

  • manipulate parameters with knobs A-H
  • sequence ext. gear
  • the Digitakt receives CC messages from a controller

I have never really experienced sync/drift like this and it’s super frustrating. Have tried a factory reset & using a different clock source (Ableton as opposed to LPX), but it still persists.

Does anyone here have any suggestions tips for dealing with this?

Cheers!

What’s on each side of the midi chain?

@Anfim

Logic Pro X Focusrite Saffire Pro 24DSP > Digitakt

Buffer size in LPX is 32

Thanks!

Are you able to sync to some other clock receiving/sending device outside of your DAW? And if so, are you still seeing drift?

Sorry I just spotted this reply!

No, I only have this. Have resigned it to being the shit clock from my DAW for the moment.

LPX doesn’t slave to MIDI Clock either only MTC. Rubbish!

I’ve been having terrible issues with bpm drift. when it syncs it is rock solid but when I use a pre-roll before recording it never syncs the clocks. Also whenever I hit play it takes a few seconds before syncing and glitches before it does

MIDI timing issues are a real PITA. best to rely on sync as little as possible.
