I am Zebu Fleckvieh, and I committed to using Digitakt to create a small-footprint electronic music performance, building from a prior rig involving an Alesis SR for drums and Roland SP for samples.
I use the word ‘committed’ intentionally. With the hours I’ve put into this machine, I only NOW realize some of the severe flaws to this machine, and I have had struggles. I don’t know if I have any joy left for this machine. It has become a great deal of work, and it hampers me by having glitches and missaves. But it has allowed me to create new music which I love, and I want to share this with the world. Digitakt allows me to approach complexity that other machines can’t do. It is allowing me to create new music that I can improv over.
But the workflow is so tedious. It is mentally taxing and exhausting. And occasionally you lose work, or a glitch suddenly alters a volume parameter. Update glitches were unacceptable. The saving mechanism is just bizarre. But now I have a show programmed, and I am completely committed to this machine.
If anybody from Elektron reads this, please consider providing a ‘revert to save’ feature when switching patterns.
Thank you.
