⋉ Erast is a Barcelona-based dj and producer. He embraced the love for electronic music from an early age as an 80s kid, chasing anything electronica and musique concrète through mixtapes and late-night radio shows in the late 90s and early 2000s.
As the years passed, he developed a wide musical taste spectrum ranging from rave and hard house, drum and bass, jungle, and big beat through the 90s, moving on to club and groove house, breaks, and deep house in the early 2000s and the following years.
Eventually, he felt the need to express more than just listening to music.
As a logical progression, in the early 2000s, he had his first chance to touch the cdjs and the turntables at a beach and nightclub called Enigma, back in his hometown Constanta, Romania. The club was at Mamaia beach located right next to the town’s house music epicenter represented by venues like Shark or Celentano beach. These were iconic places where the town’s first baby steps into pure electronic music happened in the late 90s. Nowadays the surrounding area is well known for the Sunwaves festival.
Erast got his first residency at Impala Club Café where the passion for the vinyl format was also born. The club had an attic/loft full of electronic music vinyl crates from London that were begging for sorting and playing. Crate digging and vinyl DJing, pure Nirvana was one step away.
Along with the residency at Impala Club Cafe, there were as well summer-long collaborations with Sun of The Beach beach club which would later turn into LUV Club, a well-established club in his hometown Constanta. It was a great experience as this venue allowed him to DJ for crowds in the outdoors, something which wasn’t the case before.
Nowadays he is getting more and more involved with Barcelona’s djing and electronic music production scene, spending time behind a DAWless production setup producing straight-up deep, four to the floor, house music.
