I only ever played the arcade version, at the bowling alley. I pretended I was in a bowling team so I could go every week to play the arcade games!

10 games x 400 posts = 4000 games mentioned in this thread so far
Man, I know Elden Ring is a phenomenal game when I was able to get up to the final boss despite not being good at video games.
It was so engrossingly compelling that I genuinely wanted to get gud*
*- Spam Moonveil Katana and Mimic Tear
oh my god I forgot Super Metroid and Metroid Prime. What a shameā¦
Mimic tear was the only reason I beat that game. Iād been so screwed with at least a dozen of the bosses. The Souls games taught me a valuable life lesson. Always look for the cheese way.
I might have lost my save data when I let my friend borrow my Xbox to play Starfield.
If so, im looking forward to replaying the game up to the final boss with, presumably greater knowledge.
But im scared as heck to face Margit and Radahn
Yeah, fucking nightmare fuel man.
Quest for Glory and Leisure Suit Larry would be just a tiny bit further down my list! So good!!!
Just got the mimic tear at like level 150ish
I forgot about it when I started playing again. Finally remembered, and then went and got it! Would have been handy with a few bosses.
Super Mario Wonder may crack my top ten. Just started playing it ⦠the Piranha Plants on Parade level left me with a huge grin on my face ⦠a game hasnāt done in a long time.
Iām getting Super Mario World vibes that make me feel like a kid again.
No particular order, big nintendo fan boy.
Link to the past
All the 2d donkey kong games including returns and tropical freeze
Mario Kart 64
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Links Awakening
Super Metroid
Tears of the kingdom (obsessed with getting caves atm)
Mario bros 3
Mario World
Earthbound
Honorable mention - cave story
Also, Iām loving mario wonder atm, havenāt fully finished it. But its incredible, way better than the nsmb series. Much more unique, feels like the true sequel to mario world
Ah BattleZone that brings back memories
Bubble Bobble.
Oh boy, this was a tough list to come up with. This thread is evoking endless nostalgia and bringing up such wonderful memories!
- Hollow Knight
- THPS 4
- Metroid Fusion
- Portal 2
- Machinarium
- Civilization V
- Unreal Tournament 4
- Dishonored 2
- Bioshock: Infinite
- Warcraft III
Actually!! Me too! Super Mario World, and Mario 64 have always been my favorites.
(And of course Mario Bros.)
But Odyssey really made an impact while playing with my daughter.
All of this said, Wonder is absolutely amazing!!! I can barely put it down. It is ridiculously good. So much attention to detail in absolutely every aspect of the game. The little animations when entering and exiting pipes, the goofy talking flowers which I thought I would hate, actually make me laugh all the time. The effects are amazing, sound design is exquisite, and they made the game feel more like Super Mario World!
The control is precise, light, and flexible.
The variety of hats and characters is top notch.
Thereās a video about it on Digital Foundryās channel that I think sums it up really nicely for just why itās so good.
I love all Mario games. Absolutely adore them, but this one is the best one since Super Mario World, and absolutely everyone should play it.
Not actually a big video game guy, used to play much more when I was younger, ok going to show my age here⦠these are the first ten that came to mind
Trailblazer (Commodore 64 - 2 player mode)
Star Raiders (Atari 400)
Journey (maybe my favourite)
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit (with a steering wheel thing my mate had)
Portal 2
Kick Off 2 (Amiga)
Super Bomber Man (some Nintendo - 4 player mode!)
Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (when it was fun, before it got slow and ārealisticā)
Star Wars arcade game (from the 80s, the one you had to sit down in)
All those old Sierra games (Space Quest, Kings Quest, Leisure Suit Larry etc) ok cheating on that one
I am looking for some videogames to play with my boyfriend. Havenāt played anything in a long time, have no idea what to choose.
What would you suggest? We are both into great stories and atmospheres. Being able to actually play at the same time would be great, but not mandatory.
My favourite games from back then are:
Metal Gear Solid series
Silent Hill 1 - 2 - 3
Crash Bandicoot 1 and 3
Medievil
Dark Chronicle
Syphon Filter
Legacy of Kain series
GTA Vice City
Tomb Raider Chronicles
Dun Durach
Tomahawk
The Hobbit
Zelda(Nintendo 64)
Head Coach
Starfox
Jet Set Radio
Crazy Taxi 2
KOTOR
Skyrim
Bonus Cannon Fodder
Wow, had no idea this thread existed. Yāall have great taste. This is always a hard question for me - recency bias can be so strong, it can be hard to separate nostalgia from reality, and my reasons for choosing games varies so wildly sometimes.
In no particular order :
Zelda: Wind Waker
Donkey Kong Country 2
Golden Sun: the Lost Age
Metroid Prime
Final Fantasy XII
Hades
Super Metroid
Alan Wake 2
Control
Dark Souls
Honorable mentions to:
Tears of the Kingdom; FFVII Rebirth; Super Mario World; Skyrim; Celeste; Dishonored; Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
These are some incredible and varied favorites! What system(s) do you currently have?
