lol. Yes not in the circle of trust quite yet. Have used it and it’s got a great sound but I’m not quick with it like the others!

So i’ve been planning out a desk build and wanted to test something out. My 1 year old loves crawling under my desk and pulling on all the cables so I mocked this up to attach to my existing standing desk and it’s working perfect! I wanted something where I could tuck the gear away when i’m not using it, some rack space, cable management, and have ample desk space for the other things I do.

Not running any monitors right now, just my Hifiman Edition XS. The Virus has cured most of my GAS, but I still need to get a good workflow down with the OT.

Not sure when i’ll get to the actual desk build, but this will definitely hold me over for awhile

Very clever design!
Does all the extra weight at the back unbalance the desk or make it tilt in that direction?

Surprisingly not! I should have used 1/2" plywood, but I only had 3/4" lying around. It’s definitely not light, but it goes up and down fine and doesn’t tilt or feel unstable at all. I’m curious what it will be like if I add monitors to it though…

Reminds me a little bit of the dark side of my height-adjustable desk :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I am a fan of being able to tuck your gear away when not using, especially if you WFH

You could put a 2.1 system in with lower weight mid/tops and a sub on the floor to alleviate the weight on the desk that a pair of full range speakers would have maybe?

You get injured in a bad accident and things get tossed around on you.

There are more important things than synthesizers. Hope you’re healing well.

But what if you’re a professional WFH musician?

I know you didn’t ask me about chairs directly but I can recommend Steelcase chairs - I’ve got an Amia (in brutal orange). Love it!

Edit: just noticed the price tag for a new one!! My work paid for it as a WFH enabling gesture, and I sourced one 2nd hand for about £300.

It’s got loads of adjustable elements including the lumbar back part which can protrude or… contrude? Antitrude? Not sure if an antonym of that word exists… Now my mind is going all wordy lol!

I’m not really using this all at once. Usually just one or two pieces, recording stereo jams through AH into standalone Overbridge. Sometimes, if I’m feeling it, I’ll record stems and finish in Ableton.

Oh man I love orange decor, an orange computer chair had never occurred to me. Now I’ll be obsessed with finding a used one.

Thank you for sharing your lovely Steelcase chair!

This last summer, I replaced my Ikea Markus chair with a very good condition 1977 Steelcase 451 chair, in 70s orange fabric and black trim. Amazingly, my back is much happier, and the chair suits my interior decorating preferenceā€“ā€œsuper villian chicā€. These Steelcase chairs will be around until the end of time. lol.
