what is that thing called, the white one?
And one here too…
Somewhere a merchant is wondering why there’s been a run on their folding headphone hangers…
How do you incorporate the lighter into your music?
I like the old Roland/Boss stuff:
MC-202
TR-66
Boss PS-3 and RV-2
And the new addition: OP-1F. Love recording direct into the 4 track.
The TR66 makes me think that you have to wear a smoking jacket to operate it. Got that old school, the tv is also a piece of furniture vibe.
Ha I agree! The TR-66 came out the year I was born. It’s in much better cosmetic and working condition than I am
“Couple more threads like these and I can bloody well retire!”
minimal setup with dt and as1 which can make a surprising amount of great sounds having sold Tempest and Octatrack to pay off overdraft am considering almost complete gear clear out (including a4, md, rytm) to reduce PayPal credit which is a royal pain in the arse
Finally picked up a 404 to replace the mpc. I miss op4 but i just sampled a bunch of presets for this performance with horns and strings and such.
i only found out about the Sentinel figure after seeing a Richard Devine post.
everything is elevated off the desk and angle adapters throughout so plenty of space to tuck things away.
those are just stickers.
I’ve wanted one of these for years, simply for it’s looks, I don’t have any eurorack. It looks so awesome.
Sunday afternoon DIY project with some leftover wood. It’s not perfect but will definitely do the job for my two Digis and most importantly: It’s cheap.
Okay, this isn’t really my setup, but it was mine for a few minutes yesterday.
My partner got us free tickets for the Open Doors Day at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie the day after we flew in (it’s one weekend a year). After listening to some music in the amazing main hall, we walked around the building a bit, appreciating the architecture and taking in views. In an obscure high corner, we came across this setup. It was labelled “Dada Machine”, and it was supposed to be in the main plaza outdoors according to the leaflet, so it had been moved inside because of the rain, but no one knew where it was. I explained this to my partner as we walked by it, and the glum attendant sprang up and said, “Would you like to try it?”. Sure, why not?
He quickly explained that the iPad app controlled physical triggers on the instruments, with a keyboard mapping and “if you know how to use a sequencer…” Yes, I said, and went at it. It wasn’t the best app; the piano roll squares were really tiny and hard to toggle, and I had to scroll up to get at all the instruments. But I got a beat going, and then noticed that the noise had drawn a crowd, and a young girl was standing right beside me watching what I was doing. “Your turn!” I said. The photo shows her editing my pattern.
So now I can truthfully claim that I have played at the Elbphilharmonie.
I’ve been wanting to get a dada machines kit to build a Lego drum kit with my kids, never gotten around to it sadly…
Awesome!
We had tickets (reserved a slot) but weren’t able to make it to Hamburg
Also missed https://plantenunlumen.info/
Total madness.
You play Mouse Trap with it… Right?
Cheers!
