Uh oh, a new NE MD?
It appears to be Noise Engineeringās successor to the Mimetic Digitalis. This will have a built in quantizer.
I was just curios cause that my thoughts were āis that (something with) a quantizer from NE?ā.
I cant find anything in the NE website. Do you guys know something more?
In gereral, iam a little bit about in search of a quantizer these days. Any suggestions or experiences?
The dial from Instruo seems nice, but a little bit of button combo needed. Their old harmonaic costs more and could be a little too much for me.
I want a little more scales than Dƶpfers minor or major thing, with seems pretty simple but is a little bit to less for me.
My basic task would be random and lfos transforming into random but musicaly V/oct signals. I even though about Vermonas Melodicer, cause its interesting in itself and has a quantizer mode (where you have to choose the notes involved but anyway).
Any thoughs about my search-problem?
It was showed as a teaser by Noise Engineering on Mod Wiggler. They mentioned that it will have built in quantization for the sequencer itself as well as external cv.
I have gone through quite a bit of quantizers myself, including the highly regarded Ornament & Crime.
I now have tenderfoot QQ2 and itās been my favorite due to the more tactile approach.
Wow, seems exactly what iam looking for. thanks!
The Shakmat Bard Quartet is a very solid quantizer.
Some advanced feature do require button clicks, but it is actually very easy to use and very powerful!
The bard quartet plays really well with other quantizers too ā great with Marbles to sort of smooth things out.
Also ā and I havenāt seen this talked about much ā having four channels, the ability to program an arpeggiated value of one note and then a master knob moving you through eight āchordsā means you can kind of store values as states. So with something like an Ensemble Oscillator, you could have channel one handle the root note while channels two and three handle inversions/spread/scale, while the fourth is kind of a sample and hold that could modulate the waveform ā and now you can flick through these eight states with a single knob
Experiencing the pleasures of consistent knob feel (with bonus 0-Ctrl)
Funny how much difference it actually makes in terms of feeling like a cohesive system. I actually emailed ALM about their dot caps since I couldnāt find them anywhere outside of the Sifam catalogue but sadly they werenāt available to buy. Still, it more or less works!
It was already a super fun lo-fi digital jankbox but the 0-Ctrl really opens it up. It was great for drones before but previously if I wanted a sequence Iād have to use a channel of Kermit as a sample and hold output or whatever.
Lovely
Whatās the case ?
Itās one of the little ALM ones, pretty much the perfect size for portable use IMO. Love zoning out on the couch with it.
