This is my two voice 6U:)
No 1U row though, and 94hp instead of 104hp, but I like this limited space, still can do a lot in it when combined with a drum machine.
I use it with a small mixer with sends though. Can’t miss my fx sends:)

You’ve got a DPLR, too! Nice, love that module. Was happy to be able to get one a few months ago when it mysteriously reappeared in stock at Schneidersladen in Berlin. They apparently found a box of them, despite having been discontinued for years at that point.
I think Schneiders do that on purpose, hiding modules in some corner and putting them up for sale a while later. There have been other cases, like the long discontinued old Verbos Amplitude & Tone Controller suddenly in stock again for a short time.
Yeah sometimes I suspect brands to create slight delays in stock just to put some pressure on us ha.
DPLR has great character no? Small and still loads of character and flexibility using it ping pong or mono feeding the second delay line back into the first for rhythmic stuff.
Ooooh, haven’t tried that yet.
Ah you just use the scan and pan on the Noise & Filter? Interesting!
Yeah the XTalk button starts making most sense when only using a mono instead of stereo output. Then you basically hear the right delay line also on the left output (or other way around)
since we are talking two voice - 6 u cases right now, here is mine:
empty space on bottom row will stay empty for now, since I don’t feel the need to add Something right now. maybe that will Change after superbooth
Blanks on the sides of modules that see a lot of hand action!
I use tendrils for Patches that never change, so I don’t really have Problems reaching knobs.
I prefer to get more fx or something :#
Thanks for elaborating! Looking at your rack, I think Batumi will be right at home. I wouldn’t think twice about the purchase, it’s a excellent choice for LFOs.
It’s probably been about 6 years since I started looking into modular, and 4-5 since I bought a case. I took an inordinate amount of time planning, and that part of the obsession has never fully faded.
I’ve been into synths for a long time, very much as a hobby. Though, I was never that satisfied with what I was making and never committed to totally leaning into what was possible. When I got tuned in to the possibilities of modular, I was convinced I wanted it to be in my life and felt like there was this whole arena I could grow old learning. It was a transformative realization, and I’m so happy I took the leap to invest in it. For me, it’s never going to be an either/or, DAWless vs hardware, modular vs standalones, etc. It’s simply allowing a further pole to be introduced into the equation, and that’s been priceless.
I’ve also been through many of the common ups and downs with it, including confronting all the ways in which it can complicate things. But it’s been profound not only for what it can produce, but for the shift in perspective around the experience of using it. For instance, spending hours getting lost in a patch, not recording, and then unpatching and letting it go. That has been a complete change in how I relate to these machines, and sort of broke the door open in terms of inhibitions.
Modular also has made me appreciate the ‘fixed’ nature of standalone units. Particularly with Elektron boxes, I love the possibilities and limitations so much more. The clarity is refreshing, and the depths of the 'Takts for instance feel just right. Even with a single box; no patch cables, no option paralysis, etc., and an immense world to explore. Then going back, in contrast, the modular becomes the more wild and wooly place to get loose, not to mention like you said, bring it BACK in to the Elektron world. Endless ways to leverage the different workflows, sounds, and functionality again eachother.
I could go on, but simply put, I think for a person interested in synths, having some exposure to modular is a natural progression. Or I could even argue it being a prerequisite in terms of learning. I like what you described about how you use it, as far as generating material for the Elektrons. It can complicate things in the best way, and I personally enjoy the problems it brings up. It activates the need for intentionality and self imposed limitations, which I think are just as valuable things to confront and grapple with, as the sounds that are being produced.
Cheers Dave, and thanks for all you do.
I first dipped in with Reaktor Blocks, then started adding guitar pedals that became my gateway. I sold off Blooper to buy Morphagene along with a 4ms 48hp box. That was May of 2021
What I wanted starting out and is still true today, is a sound design station capable of happy accidents, so there’s no “final” module for me.
SOME Things I learned:
My system is also augmented by Push 3, Syntakt and other drum machines.
I couldn’t be happier that I jumped in… but there are just sooooo many modules that all do great things!
anyone here knows if theres a good case around 80 HP, with 50mm depth?
i downgraded from my intellijel 7U 104HP to a 4U 64 HP, but it only has 45 mm depth…and I really, really want to use my ES-8 adat interface cause its just so convenient, but i cant use it cause its actually 50mm, and i didnt even realize that before, never been an issue module depth lol somehow because the 7U one was deep enough for everything
i been thinking to get a second, small box that can act as a little utility box…but would really love to have something in the 80 HP range…I love the intellijel cases, but the next bigger one is 104 HP again, which is just a tad too long for me, i kind of like it being compact and portable (although it wouldnt be a huge deal i suppose)
How about Etsy, there are some case sellers in there. Try searching for a seller named [KupaDobra], seller has a range (including 84HP) wooden cases that can go deep. Make your own determination as I have no feedback if the product/service is up to scratch.
The ALM cases have decent depth to them maybe a little more than you need but they are nice and have deck savers for the various sizes you can Velcro on if porting the about.
They do a 6u 52 for the smaller sizes *(the depth over the headers is 45mm so the units with 1 row won’t work for you it seems)
6u 52 is 104 total pretty cute looking little square.

These don’t fit your need but I just think they seem neat, like less janky 4ms pods
Lovely little boxes. I like the mint green ones.
If they ever make something more durable, or if I get inspired to make my own, I’d love something like these:
Blackhole can custom build a case to your needs and their cases are incredible.
thanks for all the suggestions. i think the ALM case looks cute for my available space, although i really like the small form factor of the one i have right now.
disqualified from “incredible” status due to sliding nuts in the rails. ![]()
threaded inserts ftw.
(me w/no modular anymore still picking fights over dumb shit)
Or add an i2c faderbank for the Nerdseq
This was a complete game changer here
Where you based, EU or other?
