Your modulars (Part 1)

It has been a while…
Current state of the 7U box, mostly unpatched at this moment.
Quite happy with additions of past months like Brenso, Dual xFade, Punch and Dot’s.

Distings are all fed MIDI via the case sockets and a splitter.
One is pretty much hardwired to H4 and it can also send MIDI out the back of the case.

Slightly wider shot of the little modular corner. More percussion and FX crap.

Happy sooperbootz!

I’m thinking about getting this as my very first eurorack module. A very wise choice or?

the Strymon effects are heavy hitters! wise choice indeed… if you like the sound of it then its great choice!

It’s the Rolls Royce of eurorack reverbs - it doesn’t just sound great it’s also very flexible in how you can sound design with it.

Only you know if it’s a good choice for your first module but it’s definitely a good choice for anyone that can fit it in their rack

Check out the new Aurora from Qu-Bit too if you’re looking at verbs. The Desmodus Versio is also incredible but has more of its own sound and aesthetic.

I was hoping Strymon would release 19" rack versions of their gear, but seems like that’s not gonna happen anytime soon. I don’t like pedals much so I never bought it and now that I got a eurorack this module seems like the best time to get my first Strymon.

Eurorack is the new 19" rack! I would easily use Blades as an end of chain processor.

Hey all, does anyone know if the delayed / sold out everywhere Make Noise modules like LXD are being made and distributed in batches or just completely on hold?

Ive ordered an LXD a month or two ago. The website retailers keep moving the date back for new orders, but I don’t know if in the meantime modules are being sent once in a while to older orders like mine and the people before me.

Of course I can contact the retailer or Make Noise, but I’m not in a rush, just curious to check if some of you know.

PS similarly, I was expecting to have to wait a couple of months for the Tiptip 258t that I ordered a month or two ago - but I just got a message it’s being shipped to me now!

Only 318579419439? Why stop there? :joy:

great first module. The slippery slope to addiction starts here though, buckle up haha.

All I can tell you is that I havent seen people mentioning getting new LxDs. But as that is anecdotal at best, its probably better to go straight to the source. MN has one of the best customer services in the game; theyll hook you up with good info.

Good to know. I don’t quickly do that, not wanting to overask, but this should be a simple enough question for them.

My guess is that as you can get Optomixes again now, I’d think that LxD would come into stock agin at some point soon if a shortage of vactrols was the isssue. Maybe they’ve prioritized some other modules that go into the Shared System first?

I’ll let you know what they say

Who’s using the 1010Music Bitbox (or Bitbox Micro) here?
Is there very much difference between those and the Blackbox besides the obvious?

It sounds absolutely gorgeous, whatever you send through it. Starlab will never leave my rack.

Others have chimed in, but I’ll say I’ve been looking for an LxD for over a year now, checking Reverb weekly and on all the restock notification lists from retailers, and have only found the occasional used LxD on reverb for like $1k usd.

I have the Nightsky (which is pretty much Starlab minus karplus strong synthesis in pedal form) and I love it, it sounds incredible and modulating it gets you cool/bonkers stuff. I’ve gone back and forth on switching it out for a Starlab as having easy access to (and superior CV, as opposed to MIDI) modulation would be great for me, but it’s a big fella and it feels kind of ‘wrong’ to lose a chunk of HP for something I already ‘have’. But it’s great as a pedal, I’m certain it’s great as a module.

As a first module though? I guess it depends where you want to go with a case. I think if you’re primarily thinking of this as an outboard FX case, perhaps the Nightsky makes more sense, since you won’t have anything to take advantage of all those CV inputs yet (You will at least have its onboard filter and LFO, but that’s the same situation as the Nightsky), won’t have any modular sound sources, and the Nightsky is a fair bit cheaper. BUT if you’re planning to do more stuff in the case, you might as well start as you intend to go on and grab the Starlab.

Edit: just seen your post saying you don’t like pedals - no brainer then, get the Starlab

In all the OP-1 excitement I forgot that I just received my 32 pod and trig 31 module…

Now I have a midi sequencer in 32 Hp… tried it with Syntakt just now and it’s dope as hell!

First I was thinking all fx but once got busy on modulargrid i just end up too with much other stuff.

For now my GAS top 5:
- Strymon Starlab Best reverb I could find.
- 1010Music Bitbox Micro Best sampler I could find.
- Expert Sleepers Disting EX What does it not do!?
- Knobula Poly Cinematic 8 voices and sounds great.
- Soundforce DCO & VCF/VCA (or the smaller versions) I want that Juno sound!

Just ask, Make Noise guys are cool. They’ll be happy to answer.

Oh…and you gotta have patience these days. With the shortage, stuff is slow. People have been waiting a long time for orders to be filled. It may get a little worse before it gets better. But it’ll be worth your wait :+1:t6:
