Bought a MACHINEDRUM UW MK2 in 2009 and shortly after a MONOMACHINE MK2, because there were no other Elektrons. Well, except for the SIDstation

Digitone was first because I heard a lot of love for it. It wasn’t for me. Second was the Digitakt II, which I bought to challenge myself to use samples, which I don’t normally do. The Digitakt is staying - it’s such a blast. I love the Elektron workflow for rhythm/percussion, so I can definitely see myself getting an RYTM or Syntakt as tome point in the future.

DT > DN. I thought they’d work well together and I was right. What an absolute killer pair in a compact setup. DT power button died and I went back to using other sequencers. I missed the convenience of having something that sequences and samples and immediately bought DT2 upon launch. I’ve tried a few other things, but always go back to the DT2.

Octatrack MK1 was my first Elektron followed by Digitakt MK1 because at the time I was into samplers.

ST. Wanted a “proper” drum machine, it was being advertised a lot on synth tube a fair bit, I liked the sound demos and I’d seen a fair few artists at stone techno use Elektron boxes and reasoned that I couldn’t go wrong. I was partly right!
The 2nd one was the DT because “probably need a sampler to go with the ST”.
The 3rd was the AR MkII because the scenes and performances interested me (and I hadn’t realised it shared most of its machines with the ST), and the 4th was the Octatrack because EZBot and “a fool and his money are easily parted”.

The original Machinedrum with two bars (2002-3, I think) then DT and DN at the same time because the logic behind Elektron instruments fits with my brain.

Octatrack mk2 (in at the deep end) then Rytm mk2.
Now packing OT2, Tonverk and A4 and will rebuy the DN2.
I want a Monomachine so hard but I wont pay the prices demanded for them.

- Digitakt, because it seemed to do just the things I’ve been missing from MC-707 and reminded me of what trackers could do, but in a more “musical”, less “programming” sort of way.
- Digitone, because I was impressed with Digitakt and also wanted a synth.
- Tonverk, because operating two Elektrons at the same time was a bit overwhelming and Digi boxes are missing lots of effects, so I wanted an all-in-one sampler/synth/fx with Elektron sequencer and workflow (wasn’t interested in it before 1.3 update).

Octatrack (the first one) in 2015.
Absolute boss of a thing. Still use it all the time.
2nd Elektron was a Digitone in 2019.
I like the elektron sequencer so it was an easy pick up. Plus synthesis, I like synthesis.

My first Elektron was Analog 4 MK2 and second was Octatrack MK2 as I needed a sampler.

the OG Digitone is still an epic synth and sounds amazing plus I love the yellow OLED screen better than the new washed out white screens on new Elektron boxes.

Model:Cycles → Digitone since I realized I wanted more control of the synthesis parameters. But I still think the M:C is more fun.
Then I did Model:Samples → Octatrack. Nowadays, I pretty much only use the Octatrack.

Model:Samples which I then sold to buy a Digitone. Model:cycles then to accompany og DN as a drummer and finally sold both to get Digitone II.
