I always get the impression that while MIDI might not be an “after thought” in terms of the unit and o/s it almost always is with first drafts of the manual. That’s a criticism of most manufacturers though.
Still, the MIDI channel point is a concern. iMS-20 is still locked to one midi channel I think - drives my bonkers at times!

Since you brought up an iOS product from Korg, that perfectly illustrates my frustration with their approach to midi. In 2014, it is ridiculous to be so limited with a product developed within the last 5 years. I can accept not being able to automate every parameter by CC, but being unable to set a channel of my choice makes me wonder if they gave even a slight consideration to those who would use their products in a more professional way.

Sorry if this has been mentioned but wondering with the new electribe sampler is pattern/scene transfer to ableton two way? or only one way?. Like can you create patterns on ableton and transfer to electribe?; that would be awesome!

One way I believe, though the sampler will take wav loops and auto chop them so you can export loops from any source to the sampler.

Ok Mistabishi is a mediocre presenter and tech demo guy but the ESX2 does sound pretty sweet. Im happy I pre ordered one.

I really just want to see a video of Super Hans making a beat with it from the ground up using both hands, instead of talking and cradling the thing while playing presets. It sounds pretty good so far, but I’m not really getting enough information to tell me what it’s like to work with or how detailed you can get with designing sounds.

Yep its the synth with the king korg engine, the sampler will come along about a month later apparently.

Likeing these alot im in the market for a sampler so if this works out to be 2nd best in the market i will take silver at that price lol
sync in and out will be very handy now ive jumped into eurorack.

Yep it has midi out control on all 16 channels.

Page 65 is a full midi implementation chart.

It includes velocity on and off as well as various cc’s for the knobs.

I could be wrong, but what I think sinsyn means is will it send to all sixteen channels simultaneously? Ie track one = midi channel one, 2=2, etc…
If not, what I don’t understand would be how you avoid a midi train wreck like you have a mono synth or a four voice synth and you want to control both internally and externally. Do you understand what I’m saying? Can’t explain so well
Could it be global midi per track or at least midi send on one track only?

Cool so it will sequence like i hoped ,cant remember the old midi spec on the last electribes its been a while but that list looks long wondering if its improved ?.
If that random midi step thing transmits midi out that would be cool also the last step feature is that basicly another way of saying it can do polyrhythms? the last two i know are improvements on the old midi spec

Yep. The EMX did 6 midi channels out (5 synth & 1 drums).

Both the new machines can both send and receive all 16 midi channels, so it can easily become the hub of a gear setup.

That’s what I was trying figure out. I still wonder if midi channels are definable per track.
Now, if the sampler works like the microsampler then perfect for my uses.
@aikighost, does the sequencer allow loose (non tr) sequencing?

No idea, it does step and real time recording but I’m not sure what resolution that is at. Its a wait for the reviews situation I guess.

After skimming through the manual, I’m a lot less excited about the new Electribe. It sucks that there is no song mode; no talk of chaining patterns together either. I can’t even tell if there is/are LFOs you can assign to modulate parameters. I’m thinking this is going to be dumbed-down Electribe when it comes to sequencing and editablity… hope I’m wrong, but I’m about to cancel my preorder.

As far as I understood there is no song mode, but you can record complete performances including pattern changes, knob tweaks etc… I don’t know if there’s any possibility to edit any of that data afterwards. I guess we will see as soon as the complete manual has been released.

I can’t even tell if there is/are LFOs you can assign to modulate parameters.

If you look at any image of the new elctribes you’ll see there is an entire section for “modulation” right on the front of the control panel.

Also the web site text says “72 modulation destinations” and also “24 modulation sequences for each pattern”. Seems like plenty to me
