Argentina do seem to have benefitted from a number of decisions that could have gone against them but didn’t. Add to that their surprisingly easy draw and you’ve got plenty of people shouting conspiracy.
Don’t add fucking fuel to the fire by doubling up on the Argentinian refs for the France game.
Now I’m not saying there’s a conspiracy to get Argentina to the final, I don’t think there is. Most of it can be explained by a mixture of good luck, some less than consistent refereeing and a little sprinkling of Messi getting away with things other footballers don’t (which has been going on a lot longer than this tournament). But FIFA just don’t give a shit anymore, do they…
I think on the whole the refereeing’s been good, with a few exceptions standing out.
The Paraguay game was weird… hard to understand a top-tier ref making so many bad decisions. One or two, okay, but a whole game of ignoring fouls?
Despite the refs being Argentinian tonight, I expect them to be unbiased and to ref fairly.
Conspiracy theory time, just for a laugh:
FIFA put Argentinian refs on purpose, those refs will massively favour Morocco, people will blame the refs, and not FIFA.
The Tango Toddler is pulling the strings behind the scenes… it all started circa 2003, the Iraq War/Geopolitics etc… and came to a head when someone offered him French Fries recently instead of Liberty Fries and he threw a wobbler
Trump been in bed with fifa for a while, even got a fake award.
Messi plays in America and I’m sure having the best player in the world play in his country gives trump some deluded feeling of achievement so would not be surprised if he’s been influencing fifa to facilitate an Argentina win and messi lifts World Cup then parades it through Miami. Probably demand World Cup is kept at inter Miami
I agree, the Paraguay game was bonkers and definitely some sort of aberration.
I’m not seeing anything to call it a conspiracy, but you know how it is, Argentina got a few calls that could have gone the other way and the internet does the rest…
there was also one against England not given (forgot which) and to add one nobody seemed to have seen:
The German penalty against Curaçao should have been retaken. Check the goalkeeper…
You’re pretty close to me! We do a monthly at Churchill’s and if you’re ever interested in playing out, send me a message. Last night was the most recent one and it was really good. Anyway, back to socc… I mean football!
Morocco never got the chance to try to play their own game, they were simply bossed by a better team playing their best football.
The problem is that France can make something so difficult look so effortless. You get to the end of the game thinking the opposition didn’t turn up, but the reality is that France never gave them the option of turning up.
