Workflow - pattern organization

I’m relatively new to the A4 and getting through all its depth, and love it so far. What I’m struggling with though is figuring out how to organize patterns and my songs within projects.

So, let’s say I’m improvising or composing a song (by song, I don’t mean A4’s songs, I mean something I’m writing). I put a kit together, make a few patterns on A1, A2, A3, then write a second song using A4, A5, the go back to the first song and now it’s A1, A2, A3, A6, A7. See where I’m going? Does everyone copy and reorganize patterns so they’re together? How do you remember where the patterns are? Or maybe I should just start a new project?

Curious to see how you guys are organizing. Thanks!

I personally like to use a project per song. I used to separate them by banks but that got confusing. Save the project name as the song name. Easy to remember!

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense. 128 songs should last me a while.

Cool! :+1:

Looking forward to hearing other peoples responses on this myself… Def been tough for me to figure out. Some vids on this would be great

This has been quite perplexing for me so far too. So far, i’ve done the same and have been falling back to making new projects for each DAW song I’m working on.

I’ve only had the AK for two weeks now so I’m sure there must be a better way of working??

What’s wrong with a project per song? For studio work it seems ideal. Plus it’s pretty fast to change.

If you were building a live set I could see why you might want more than one track per project.

But there are many different ways to use these machines so whatever workflow feels better for you is the way to go.
