Hey dudes, in the Mono workflow vid, I didnt understand when Jenk used the portamento control on the dbox track. What does this do ?
Thanx.
Portemento was used on the bass track.

Just want to say thanks to Dataline for doing this and the other workflow videos. Hopefully they keep coming for other machines (and maybe a few more for each? The Mono video was great, but it can go so much deeper-bring on the FM drum programming!). I hope these videos help get the fence sitters off the fence and opening their wallets.
Also, it’s Cenk, not Jenk ;).
Dataline, I noticed that you didn’t touch the filter tracking at all. That is usually one of the biggest issues people have with it. Do you regularly forgo this when programming?
Also, a thought if you’re doing a MDUW video-demonstrate the sampling features!!! I think this is one of the hardest things for people to understand about the machine. The video you did over the summer with the BSII executed them well, but lacked the inset video to clue others in. Getting the settings right is a bit of a head scratcher.
Thanks! Glad you like them!
Yea, i do turn off the filter tracking when programming the monomachine. But on the video i did not. To be honest when watching these videos, i notice a lot of things that i should and not have done. But still, the point was to capture the moment of playing with these machines and there is room for more videos like this. It is not possible to cover everything in 1 video.
Yea, machinedrum… Hehe

Dear Cenk, thanks a ton for the effort … it is so much fun watching you, and your explanations make it even more fun and educational ! please keeeeeeep em coming!!!
:one more question… are you guys EQ the worklow videos? the AK sounds way better than my A4 at home, also the MM seemed eq’ed …
thumbs up for Elektron and their workflow series…looking forward to seeing more!!

All the more reason to make multiple videos, time and energy willing :). I’ve seen a number of people on the various forums I follow already saying that these workflow videos are pushing them over the edge to buy, so more tutorials should only lead to greater interest.
There is slight compression and limiter on the recorded machine output. We need to apply that so that it is loud as possible without changing too much of the dynamics. Other than that there is no processing!
It would be a shame if the video volume is lower than the other videos out there - so that’s why we apply it.
Sorry, got the spelling of a sonic state video.

Cenk: may I ask which Compressor / Limiter is used for your productions? … Elektron as a HighQuality Top Notch Synth Company sure knows which type they are using,…, sounds good … just “still” curious, especially after the other workflow videos… thanks!
Just wanted to say thanks for the videos and to knock the all CAPS anger thread from the top of this forum
Was just about to read said thread, maybe I wont, Thanx
.
Yea +1 on making more workflow vids. Many thanks for putting these up!
One question: When you tweak the MNM (delay feedback and stuff), how do you return back to the original kit? Just load the kit again? Or, maybe it doesn’t matter since the song is over anyway.
I really like using ‘reload’ on the MD and OT. I guess the other machines have it to.
Second question: The preview at the beginning of the video, was that edited in from after? Or, did you fully re-create the pattern?

I’ve been having fun with MnM->AR, the comp adds some analog ‘girth’ to the MnM somehow. In the video, the ‘dynamix’ machine is on track 6 no?
