Wirehead Instruments Basilisk - Analog-Hybrid Generative Bassline Synthesizer

Thanks - incredibly helpful. Had been intrigued by the Basilsk for a little while, and it’s definitely a fun little toy to dive into. You tip on mutation is really helpful - I’d misunderstood the mutation rate as being per sequence rather than per step. Will dive back in again with better comprehension of what I’m playing with.

Overall, for the price it’s a really nice bit of kit you’ve put together. Definitely looking forward to see where you go next in terms of product.

OK, now tried it as suggested. That was much more like it! Lots and lots of fun. And very impressed by such immediate engagement by a builder. Much appreciated, @wireheadinstruments . :slight_smile:

Hi,

Thanks! :slightly_smiling_face:

Re octaves, I’ll have a think about this. I tend to use octave in two ways - mostly set and forget (which your suggestion would work well with), or sometimes live performance scanning up and down the octaves. I’ll put it in the backlog and see if a good UX is possible

Re root notes, technically possible, will consider

Re custom scales, yes I’ve had this request from a few people. Initial thoughts are there is room to store them in EEPROM, again it will come down to a comprehensible UX to build a custom scale through such a limited interface!

Great to hear :call_me_hand:t3::blush: enjoy!

Thank you for looking into this! I think the Basilisk is already great as it is - as mentioned, these would be more ‘nice to have’ features for me.

PS: After the build I initially encountered some instabilities with DC power supply regularly cutting off when I touched a knob. I found out that I had not cut the component legs short enough after soldering and some were slightly touching the back plate when applying light pressure to the device. Cutting everything as short as possible completely solved this problem and everything is stable now!

Thank you for this live performance idea - just tried it out and it works very well indeed! So please disregard my request and leave it as it is!! :slight_smile:
