Great work in here. Who’s gonna make some lightweight faceplates?
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ![]()
Speaking of the clear, it’s what got me started on a faceplate a while ago. I would love to have the digi with the translucent aesthetic.

@LaVernWinston , any chance you’ve got Syntakt caps in the works?
I cleaned off all my track buttons bare, but now all the other little ones are getting sticky icky too…
I’m about ready to order a new set, but if I have the option for this not to happen again I’ll take it.
Oh! Ok then!
Those translucent caps above look really cool!
Haha…keyscaps and translucent cases were exactly the 2 things I was thinking of making for the Elektron boxes as well. I love that classic skeleton look.
Sadly I’m no good with 3d stuff ![]()
Apologies for that delay! I’ve been chasing all sorts of different projects. I can have the syntakt set live this week.
With all the nice LED’s, these boxes are begging for it.
Absolutely!
I can still vividly remember unboxing my first N64 in clear purple…
Don’t apologize! Do your thing, and thanks for the update. I’ll be a buyer for sure!
Big ole shop update!
First and foremost, Syntakt keycaps are now live!
On the topic of the MK2 case with a high gloss finish, there is good news and bad news.
- Bad news. The method that I first announced (vapor smoothing) turned out to be probably the worst approach for this and I am kicking myself in the ass for shouting it out from the mountain tops so prematurely. Days after sharing, not only did I learn that the out gassing and strong odor continued, but the case itself had warped very badly. I guess in hindsight this is all pretty unsurprising, as the process involves literally melting the outer surfaces of the object. In conclusion… vapor smoothing: super cool for figures and other small knick knacks, terrible for things that need to remain dimensionally accurate.
- Good news. I am still experimenting to find the best high gloss finish. Hand polishing, clear coats, resin coating, I’m trying it all. In the meantime, I’ll be listing the MK2 in the same high quality finish and colors that I already offer for those who don’t care for a high gloss finish in the first place.
“Winston, I hate all of your Manually Sliced designs equally…” well while I’m a little offended, that’s okay because I’ve been chipping away behind the scenes creating a completely new design. This is an early look at Winston’s Easel.
This will have nearly the identical footprint to the factory enclosure, yet will allow you to tilt the face to whatever angle suits you. This project is a wild one, obviously a little more complex than my current offerings, but it has been really fun to explore.
Other cool things I’m working on
- I am still playing around with a replacement faceplate with the sole intention to create a fully translucent DT2. There is no actual good reason for this, it just must be done.
- The Pull Up for Push which some of you might’ve seen in the Push thread.
I think that is all for now although I legitimately could be forgetting some things. Either way, thanks to all of you for being so damn cool and hyping me up along the way ![]()
My dude! ![]()
Live 3, Live 3, Live 3.lol
Just kidding. As you know, just a big fan of what you have going on and enjoy following the process and march toward refining your designs.
See, I knew that was going to be accurate lol
