Octatrack back in stock at Thomann - price is down from last time…

I do not expect anything new in May…

Hence the “fixme” perhaps.

Forget what MK I have, my music sounds way better when the headphones aren’t plugged in at all!

Is Intellijel just made the new Octatrack fader?

My thought exactly when I saw this. So cramped tho…
Btw that was a leak, Intellijel will announce it on YT in about 3h.

Damn, I’ve managed to resist Eurocrack for so long and now this comes along… looks and sounds amazing.

not sure about how a lack of screen will play out in the long run, especially when you start to accrue a lot of sounds…

8 channels and a morphing fader? you son of a bitch i’m in

MK3 update. You can tell how immensely improved the sound is compared to the MKII.

Do we need more than this midi controller?

Damn that controller is expensive. But interesting.

Yes. Expensive, but it is a small boutique project, so until he gets a call from Uli…
Now the size of my fingers is not compatible with this product. I look into it and I think this would be better for me. Anyone using it with the OT?

Yeah, same size issue here.

There was a whole thread about controllers with faders. Don’t find it right now. The 16n(x) could be an interesting option, too?

Had to google it. Thx. Looks nice, but only faders? UC4 then for me.
Anyway, my post was not about any particular brands of midi controllers but how the MKII is already providing a lot of what some people are hoping a MK3 will do.

UC 4 is still the king of MIDI controllers for me, because it brings eight faders plus knobs plus the OT like fader in such a small format. It’s really a best of and imo perfect for most Elektrons, since you can program intuitively with four sets of four knobs/sliders.

I really really like the UC4, but to be honest I wish it used potentiometers rather than encoders. Endless encoders are almost always worse than pots when used with gear that doesn’t respond to relative MIDI messages, such as the OT. There is one situation where I’ve found them to be useful though; I set up one of the LFOs to do fine pitch tuning, and the very gradual adjustment of values with the encoder ends up being actually helpful for that.

Actually, thinking about it they’re also kind of helpful for use as panning control, because you can reset them to centre with a push.

I’ve read that you can request a CC dump from an audio track on Octatrack by sending MIDI CC message 61, and that you should be able to “manually” sync a midi controller this way

You should probably also check this out, plus they have another model with a mix of pots & faders. The unique thing about this is that it’s sized specifically to match the OT and other classic Elektron gear.
