Why OT as midi master?

Just curious. I see a lot of people are using the OT as the midi master to drive their other machines. What is the reasoning behind this.

Currently I have mine set up with the MD as master. I am only just working out how to use them all together and wonder what I am missing not have the OT as master.

Back in the early days of midi, I seem to remember it was recommended to have the drum machine as the master.

the clock is very tight, and many people use it to control other MIDI instruments, so it’s just convenient to have your transport controls in the same place. also, I don’t use pickup machines, but I don’t think they work properly if the OT is slaved.

Ok, thanks. I don’t use pick machines either.

OT’s clock is much tighter. More artifacts with time stretch on and the OT slaved if the incoming clock is jittery.

MD, when slaved, quantizes swing to only 4 or 5 percentages.
