Why does this forum hate paragraphs?

Every time I type a response, with nicely spaced paragraphs, the initial posting comes out with no space between them.

E.g. like this:

Paragraph1
Paragraph2

instead of this:

Paragraph 1

Paragraph 2

Yet when I edit the post, I can put the extra lines back in and when I save the post they show up correctly.

Seems like a bug?

I get the same behavior in both Chrome on Windows and Safari on OSX, so it doesn’t appear to be a client-side issue.
