Why does the patch name go back to untitled sometimes?

As the title says, in just wondering why does the patch turn back to untitled half the time after a patch has been selected from the track sound browser? Meaning when you double click track x, then select a sound, it still says untitled at the top?

That’s the pattern name

Can’t be because I’m selecting on “plucky ea”

The pattern name is displayed most of the time.
The sound (patch) name is only displayed when you switch tracks.

Yep, name the pattern!

So the name at the top is for the pattern, not the patch? I don’t know how I didn’t catch he said patterin lol. My b. Sometimes it does say the patch name for the synth tho. Any idea what makes it say the patterin name instead of the patch? Also, I’m allowing midi notes from the mpc to control the digitone if that makes any difference. Don’t have a pattern on the digi.

Or is it that I have to load a patch from the sound manager instead of from the track in order for the name of the patch to be up top?

Don’t feel bad, I was scratching my head over the same thing last week.

You’re sequencing from another device, however always in a Pattern (which contains the Sound and other voice/mod parameters) similar to how you are always in a Project. You still want the Sound to come up again if you save the Project, you want a different Sound if you change patterns, etc.

Name the Pattern and you won’t see Untitled. It is not bad to see the Pattern name to know where you are, but there isn’t going to be as much of a need to see the current Sound, since you’ll probably change it and it will not be the same as what has been saved/initially loaded.

The patch name will not always be at the top, no.

Thank you for the detailed response. Makes sense now. I guess I really need to get used to how elektron communicates their stuff. That through explanation deserves at least two thank you’s. So thanks again!

No prob! It gets even more confusing when you own a few Elektron devices and have to memorize the conceptual structure for each

Didn’t want to argue with what you wanted, but figured it’d be easier to explain the whys.

Nah you’re explanation was spot on. It was me not knowing what I was saying
