ultimately though, do what makes you happy and expresses what you hear when you’re thinking about how you want it to sound when you record it, if you know exactly what you want it helps but even knowing when it’s not what you want even if you don’t know precisely what you want, that’s still a huge benefit. If this sound you created is what you heard in some recording that got you tweakin on the need to get a dub siren then even better, but getting caught up in what the perfect dub siren is or isn’t might not be what drew you to the sound, I dunno just thinking out loud not trying to steer you one way or the other. I think what you made with the gear you have sounds great so it’s just down to if that’s what you were after at the start or if you’re after something else now because obviously that’s ok too!
More Gear, Not Less.
Plus what I ordered has a big red button.
But I dont want to discount what you said… all wise words…
That is specifically the West Pest’s Wave Folder… its buttery smooth… like silky.
And traditional Dub Sirens use ADSR… good ear.
I have a problem saying no to gear.
Here is just the 404… I resampled a pad that had tape delay and added… TAPE DELAY!
Its not as musical, because I I dont have the dynamic control…
careful of ears… some high frequencies!
I’ve got the DS71 which is the big brother of the DS01(e) and it’s a nice little box.
Sure, you can do these types of sounds with any synth, and yes, it’s sort of a luxury item. But if it fits your musical style it’s just nice to have it in a focused package.
The DS71 doesn’t have an integrated echo, so I pair it with a mini BBD pedal or the Zen Delay, depending on how fancy I want to get and the desk space available.
Benidub makes quality gear. I’ve also got their spring amp which is ace as well.
While not as cool as the Benidub, this is kind of my poor man’s version.
Plus, it’s capable of doing a bit more than you’d expect, like this kind of stuff:
Thanks to this thread I tried to recreate a dub siren on the Rytm. The DVCO works well for this.
My thoughts exactly.
This is the 303 of the 2020s
Obviously the Monotron delay is excellent for these purposes, has anyone rigged up a Siren with a Volca Kick?
I’m curious how well that module might be tunable for the use case.
