Why do i lose my sounds?

Really frustraties, read the manual many times, no problems with the rytm at all… But with my keys I keep on lossing sounds. It feels like a random situation, but the keys work very Well so probably i do something wrong.

Sometimes suddenly my sound is lost. In many situations it stays were i want it to be, but i keep on losing sounds. I decided to save my kits on a structured way, so my kit on C1 is called kit C1. I use the kit for c2 C3 c4 etc… I want to use 16 different kits in a project, to create a live set. Works all very well… But now again i suddenly lost my amazing sound i spend on a lot of time this afternoon.

I think something goes wrong when i play within the project as a live set… But i tried to work as structured as possible and i read the manual many times and read the cookbook… But now again i have this problem.

It annoyes me. I hope someone. An help me

glad to hear you do the Kit A1 = Pattern A1 thing, … I do the same … what I noticed couple of days ago:

cough cough, actually, I should start this post with " I a m sorry to hear you lost your sounds bro!

… so , if I am in a KIT, make it A1 in pattern A1, and I change a sound (bass abc) and then save the sound (bass XYZ) and reload the KIT A1 afterwards, it does not have the saved sound (bass XYZ), but the older one (bass abc) …

far fetched, but might it be that? (any sort of Function + some mini keyboard presses, oh you said you were on Ak, sorry… )

do you have any incoming midi data ?

do you clear the pattern by accident ?

Sounds are like templates and kits are where the real sounds are stored. The kits do not refer to the sounds. You can use saved sounds to create new kits. If you’re working on a pattern and change any of the sound settings you have to save the kit. A part of the reason for the kit being the sound is because it contains the FX settings where sounds only have the FX send information. The FX parameters have such a large role in how the patches sound that you really have to refer to the kits as the absolute sounds source for a pattern.

For the OP: If you change patterns and have it set to reload kit on change you may be undoing your manipulations. If you change to a different pattern before saving the kit and then go back again it may be going back to a previous version of the kit.

Thank you for your replay

SO if I understand correctly, every time I adjust my kit and go to another kit, I have to save it. Otherwise I loose my changes. Makes sense…

but

I think I do this

so

This means the way I work is correct, but I sometimes simply forget to do what I have to do, make mistakes and loose a lot of work.

correct?

…only a saved kit that gets moved by the pattern it’s made for, with all performance makros on default, will give you the feeling of total recall and the satisfaction of listenning again to what you’ve got in first place…

and there are so many ways to fuck it up, on all elektron machines, that it takes quite a while 'til you’re really aware of all that changing and cross related factors that can take place without realizing…

if you always start from scratch, it’s a good thing if you not just link patterns and kits in names and numbers, but also stick to some certain structure in arranging the jobs the tracks have to do…so if you’re into rhytmical drum like things, make it always on track one…
and bass always on track two…lead always on four…something like that…
so switching through kits always makes some basic sense and won’t irritate so much, even lead way easier to useful variations and deals more friendly with mistakes on the live flght…
