Which software to prepare samples for analog rytm?

hi, i m for the moment using the computer only for recording, i was sampling before with an mpc, so i don t have a dedicated sampler software, witch one do you think is the best to make samples to send to the analog rytm?
i use logic to record the master of my mixing desk but don t like the wave editor to chop samples, i d like something to record truncate and apply effects on my samples before to send it to the rytm, i was thinking to maschine, do you think it s a good way? or should i see for ableton and push? or logic is a good alternative and i just need to work harder to edit short samples on it? or something else?
thanks for the help
ps i have strom but no audio interface for my ipad so the mic input is not excelent for what i need! and i find hard to male precise truncate on samples

I use audacity. I’ve setup a “chain” of effects (dc offset, normalize, ect) specifically to send to the ar. It’s the only one I’ve tried so I have no idea about any others. Would love to hear opinions.

As far as processing samples, I expect there are better options (Ableton with MAX, Reaktor ect). Though i expect I’d still throw them postprocessing into the Audacity chain. Mainly because I know it now and I can’t be bothered to learn something else.

Though if there is enthusiastic support of something rise I’d probably try it.

i have never been an audacity fan, maybe must i try to learn it! is it easy to truncate samples in it?
thanks for the advice

For converting samples and batch processing I like Adobe Audition (formerly known as Cool Edit Pro) the best.

& the sister product WaveEditor
Work fine for me

Likewise Adobe Audition is my favourite.

If you’re using a DAW to record already, you could just use that?

I use Ableton to record, and have a channel set up for processing samples. Then send them into the Rytm. Works well for me. Plus you can do more advanced processing if nessesary.

Logic is balls for cutting up samples.

This thread reminded me that I got a copy of Wavelab LE for free with a zoom recorder a few years ago. Seems fairly capable at first glance. The newer wavelab elements is fairly cheap, and has batch processing etc.

EDIT: Can’t recommend the light version of this program now that I’ve used it a bit more - the newer version might be better, but v7 is not so good. It’s still quicker than logic though.

I guess you’re on a Mac since you’re mentioning Logic.

Check out Fission by Rouge Amoeba. Relatively cheap at $29.

You’ve got remove, split, join, crop, fade-in-out, normalize and some export formats (MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless, FLAC, AIFF, and WAV). There’s also a batch convert function.

To be honest, no. It requires a ridiculous combination of mouse clicks - you can’t use the scroll wheel to zoom.

Eeven so, I like it more than Ableton. I’m not comfortable with what I see of the sample wave; I don’t trust it, for whatever reason.

Anyway let us know what you find out.

ithanks for all the advices, i think i ll look seriously for maschine with the dedicated controller, i think its near the moc workflow that i already know!
what do you think about it?
