Sound On Sound, not just the gear reviews but the great engineering stuff. Don’t read so much these days but I always took some new piece of wisdom from the interviews with the jobbing pros in each edition.
Music Radar is hit or miss and not my favorite site just so-so
I don’t think that’s an age thing. Those wavy hands are irritating as f*ck.
Sound On Sound and CDM for sure.
Music Radar can have good content, but I find their website to be cluttered and annoying
I’ve been a long time reader of The Quietus. They cover a very broad range of music and other culture/ arts. Their Columnus Metallicus has been an amazing source of new metal.
Stereogum is good for pop and indie stuff
Resident Advisor was great once upon a time but is pretty intolerable these days. Can only hear about DJs mental health and promo tips so many times.
Pitchfork’s Sunday reviews are often great, but I don’t really read their reviews of new stuff
In general full reviews of new music seems a bit obsolete, but I like retrospective ones
absolutely… i only watch one of these if there are audio bits of a new synth i really want to hear, otherwise i pass
all those countless Cuckoo and Loopop voice&style copycats are creeping me out too…
