Which DAW for Windows / AH as sound card

Hello all,

I do all my recording and mixing on Mac Mini via my A&H Qu16 and intend to keep doing so, as all my plugins are mac based and I’m so used to using Logic Pro X.

But I’d like a small travelling setup using my Windows laptop for tracking stuff from some synths etc. I can use my Analog Heat (Mk 1) as a soundcard (to save buying more gear!), so, does anyone know which Windows DAW works best with Overbridge and AH for this purpose?

I would say most decent software packages would/should do.

You can go for free with Cakewalk by BandLab:

I used Cakewalk Sonar and had never problems with Overbridge.

There is Ableton and Cubase, which do the job, and I would think others like Reaper etc. are okay too.

Last time I tried the free version of Cakewalk it wasnt very stable.

If you dont wanna spend money, have a look at Tracktion T7: https://www.tracktion.com/products/t7-daw

Otherwise for controlling external modular gear, Bitwig is really powerfull and easy to use. For small projects, the cheap Bitwig 8-Track could be enough.

If you wanna program things by yourself to control any synth, the Ableton Live Suite 10 with Max for Live is the most powerfull DAW around, imho. And works flawlessly even with the betas from Overbridge.

For Ambisonics and 3D-Audio, Reaper is very usefull and cheap.

Anyone using the heat w reason?

works great with Cubase Pro 8.5
