Between 110 and 130 is good for most tracks and dancing. Go to 130+ for more aggressive music.
Just remember, for your safety, to avoid any and all dubstep.

some outdoor prog trance is jumping up to 150 at live mixes by dj’s at outdoor festivals, although in the same mix, the bpm could be 132bpm for some time.

And YES you can make ANY style at ANY BPM.
I personally find 103.5 to be my groove. I gravitate toward slower spacey stuff (80-110 bpm) that grows in intensity and groove, but I still implement a four on the floor feel for the most part. I can get down on break beat too, I just gravitate toward this.
