Which BPM

hi folks…

what bpm do you use for xxx ?

when i had the MD mk1 i slowed my speed down to 60-64 to get longer steps… that was b4 I knew I could chain things…

anyways

I do mostly 4 to the floor so 120 - 128 bpm …

I heard for dubstep 130-140 should be best…

occasionally i slow it down to 101 to get a slow vibe down tempo,

95 for rap and rnb hip hop beats…

but I always feel unless it is my house beats there is something “wrong”

what do you think? how do you start? what is your work flow?

anybody using 12 steps?

thats like asking how much bass do you add on a 3band EQ

you can make ANY style of music with ANY tempo

69 bpm for all non-UK Tripple-step hoe trap (with a 3/6 signature of course)

anything more may interfere with the “swing”

i am seriously surprised about my lack of knowledge! …

thanks for answers folks

Georgio Moroder did some very nice 117bpm dance tracks

Between 110 and 130 is good for most tracks and dancing. Go to 130+ for more aggressive music.
Just remember, for your safety, to avoid any and all dubstep.

oh dear, hilarious! if the forum had less-awkward-looking emoticons, i would for sure be using the roflmao image.

some outdoor prog trance is jumping up to 150 at live mixes by dj’s at outdoor festivals, although in the same mix, the bpm could be 132bpm for some time.

I’m all over the place as far as bpm and my style/tastes in “genre”

And YES you can make ANY style at ANY BPM.

I personally find 103.5 to be my groove. I gravitate toward slower spacey stuff (80-110 bpm) that grows in intensity and groove, but I still implement a four on the floor feel for the most part. I can get down on break beat too, I just gravitate toward this.
