The question I am asking is, when analog rym is connected to ableton using overbridge for multitrack recording, does the analog rym act as the main audio interface, and if so does it discards any other audio interface which is connected to your monitors, because in almost all DAWs you can only select one asio driver, or can I use my own audio interface as the main interface for Ableton to record seperate tracks over usb from analog rym into Ableton, Is this the main reason for overbridge,. so that you can still use your own audio interface

You have the choice and don’t have to use the Rytm as main audio interface necessarily…
My Rytm is connected via overbridge but I use my NI audio kontrol as audio interface in ableton live.

Thanks, because I was looking for a drum machine that would integrate into a DAW, I had look at the Roland TR8 which it also lets you record seperate tracks into ableton and it seems people are having trouble, because you have to use the TR8 as the main soundcard,
get a killer - soundcraft signature MTK12 mixer with integrated 14-in/12-out USB audio interface for only $500
it will be avialable in a month or so (according to semi-official info from distributors)
with this usb audio interface/mixer you can simoltanously record all tracks of analog rytm including fx in multitrack in DAW with 24 bit quality with no latency/jitter issues and also use it at the gigs/live perfomances
Thanks, I had looked at a mixer like this before, that done most of this, and is also midi controllable as well with a dedicated midi section, and DAW control, The Allen & Heath ZED-R16, 18 FireWire inputs and 18 outputs plus 16 ADAT I/O. 24-bit/96 kHz audio quality
Mackie have something similar ONYX 1640i
but their a bit pricey
price is the exact point why I never consider buying either of those two you listed, but soundcraft mtk12 signature is priced very well with all functionality packed in that compact size and famous Lexicon DSP effects inside - this is a killer audio interface for sure for only $500. looking forward to hear feedback on the quality of its DAC/ADC converters. I wouldn’t worry for the pre-amps since soundcraft are just great and have a great reputation on the market
Aargh! That desk is everything I have wanted from a small format mixer! And I’ve already spent a boatload of money trying to match that functionality for my rig(s)

8 mic pres, gain/trim on every channel, Inbuilt FX, 3 auxes, 3band eq with a sweepable mid, indiouts to a DAW… And for that price! This is going to sell like hot cakes. This has everything that the other small format mixers lack… Please don’t tell me that the audio interface side is class-compliant (ie. works with an iPad etc)?!
I’ll be selling my old mackies for this one for sure.
So how would you set up that soundcraft mixer?
Im imagining analog outputs from Rytm into the desk, and the mixer connected by USB to your computer? How does the audio arrive into Ableton - do you then have 12 channels into Live, or is it just 2?
Would you be able to use another sound card at the same time?

Just a note-Those Lexicon FX, the DBX compressor, etc are not transmitted via the USB connection, so you’d still need to recreate them ITB. Still looks like a great and useful board, but that moved it from “take my money” to “wait and see” for me.
