Where is the DT2/DN2 update love?

IMO not feature complete until we have better timestretch algorithm. With one shots it sounds good though. Stretch and warp are only good for experimental sound design in my opinion. Whenever I drift more than 3 bpm from the original sample it sounds ass.

Were there somewhere ā€œpromised featuresā€ list for DT2/DN2?
Are there any ā€œpromised featuresā€ for TV?

Is there something like Elektron Roadmap where you can check what is now and what will be planned for next releases? Or it is rather all about believes of Elektron fans that for sure Elektron never forget about them?

The funny part is, this meme gets posted repeatedly, but always with different synths in different places, depending on what update just got released.

Kinda disproves the meme really.

Analog 4 found dead in a ditch.

I kid, but damn I was excited when I saw that there was a hardcore update dropped for the analog Rytm a year or so back. I thought the A4 was about to get a similar update!

Edit: Still a lovely machine, it doesn’t need anything more for me to love it, I just got hyped for nothing promised!

Personally I have some ideas about what DNII could have to greatly expand its possibilities, but those don’t look like a big seller on paper (e.g. a second filter identical [but without envelope] to the first to shape the sound characteristic (bright, fat, etc.) before using up the main Filter and its envelope would be the sh_t. Also it would greatly expand its possiblities for physical modeling, since then you can shape the input before it hits the comb or vice versa)

So I donā€˜t really await an update since I donā€˜t believe itā€˜ll be something that does something for me.

In its current state, I still canā€˜t get enough of my DNII and use it every day :stuck_out_tongue:

Getting ready to round robin device names!

I’m definitely in the ā€œthis does what it’s advertised to do and therefore doesn’t need anything else for me to enjoy itā€ mentality.

I wouldn’t complain if we got some updates and I don’t think there’s any harm in innocent speculation/ wish-listing for updates, though.

I do get annoyed a bit by the ā€œElektron didn’t give me a free update fast enough so I’m never buying anything from them againā€ attitude (but I think that’s more common on Reddit and YouTube comments than here). I think some people forget that this isn’t a subscription service. Feature updates should be seen as a nice surprise, not something you’re entitled to.

For me, the Four is much more ā€œdeservingā€ of an updatenoise the Digis. It’s still not got the QoL improvements the Rytm got. Elektron made some noise about the Analigs having a 10yr anniversery and then they went silent on anything Four related.

I’ll admit that I have a Four and no Digis, so I’m very biased.

not sure about dt2 but every time i turn on my dn2 i’m struck by how finished and refined it feels.

sure i’d be able to come up with a greedy wishlist but if the only thing we ever get are refinements & bugfixes im fine with that. awesome awesome fucking machine

Yeah the Elektron devs squeezed every bit of capability out of the OG DT for years and years.

I don’t think that idea and possibility of making machine better will ever stop, because creative people tend to get ideas while working with those tools, they always think how they can be better for their use cases, how to improve them and align with what they hear in their heads, and then translate this into engines, filters, …

For me on the Digitakt 2, its more simple qol enhancements that can be found on the other machines.

  1. Layer Setup: You can assign one track to trigger other tracks in the voice allocation page (indicated by a ā€œmouthā€ icon), allowing a single sequencer to control multiple synth voices simultaneously
  2. Global FX/Mix Menu

New machines would be cool, but just would be happy with just cleaning things up a bit to make things more uniform.

At the end of the day i aint stressed, Elektron has shown more times than not that they are full of surprises, and i bet we see more updates in the future.

Peeps were sounding off the alarms about the Syntakt, just a couple months back haha

This would be incredible.

Layers and choke groups would make sense for all machines !

Not sure if Global FX/Mix gonna happen on Digi2s because of Perform Kit. (I know it is different.)

There’s no roadmap or anything official from Elektron. It leads to a lot of speculation and wishlist-ing here. But Elektron aren’t unique is this regard TBH

Yes! Just dip a toe into the DT2 feature request thread.
Putting aside the silly daydream requests (polyphony, synth engines etc)

There some recurring issues raised by many, many people:

  • We still have clicks/pops when looping
  • No zero crossing detection (see above)
  • X-Fade looping
  • Time stretching that is usable
  • Zoom for sample editing
  • Track layering (like on DN2)

That’s purely off the top of my head

DTII and DNII did not came out complete at all!
When they get introduced they where missing important features that were present in the one boxes: overbridge, arp etc.

So we must ask for updates!

And I want to add my opinion too. Don’t buy the tonverk, don’t make their game.

Granted, Overbridge wasn’t there at launch but they communicated clearly it will come and delivered it fast. Had nothing to do with people asking for updates.

Don’t know what you’re talking about with the arp, DN II came with an arp like OG DN and DT II never received an arp in any update. I’d be curious what other things are behind your etc.

I agree that the Tv launch was a shocking mess for Elektron standards, but it is now a pretty impressive machine that can do so much and mostly runs great and is fun.

Sorry I got confused. It was chord mode for DN2.

For me it is like this. They launched and incomplete product. Fact.

They promised some new features explicitly or not and they delivering all new features to the tonverk. Fact.

I think they want me and you all to buy the tonverk.
