I feel like they got the TV bugs out of the way so hopefully we are next?
This is likely to be an unpopular opinion but I think we’ll get one last significant (i.e. features not fixes) update for DT2, and that will be it.
Less sure about the DN2 it doesn’t have the TV breathing down it’s neck in the same way
I don’t know about unpopular but I think it’s an opinion which is almost guaranteed to be proven wrong. It’s going to be supported for years to come.
My opinion:
They just released the two digis to get the money from their fan base which I am not part of.
They got me caught in the trap, as I have bought the combo last year, but they will never see a cent from me.
I admit I’m not a power user, but I don’t experience problems with these units, and they seem feature complete, I don’t have the impression some promised features not being there. Last updates were around mid 2025 I think. Might be a distribution of resources thing, the aquisition by Bonnier might indicate Elektron was a bit tight in the wallet.
OG DN didn’t really get any updates as it didn’t leave much to be desired out of the gate. Except for limitations like “only” four tracks and no retrigs. They fixed all of this with DN2 and added additional synth machines. So I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s pretty much it for DN2, except for some quality of life stuff that might come to TV later on and get ported.
DT II is in a bit of a weird spot right now. I can see them bringing some interesting new machines that helpf distinguish it from TV. But I can also see them keeping it as is, making its simplicity and fast workflow compared to TV its selling point. I think it depends on whether TV will get slices and time stretching or not.
One thing they talked about when launching DT2 instead of upgrading the DT1 was ”this is has better hardware allowing for so much more room to grow in the future”.
Funny that this topic pops at the moment I’m making this sweet miserable git meme. Not trying to be too harsh, I understand Elektron can’t work on every device at a time, but 3 Tonwerk updates in a row… man was it that unstable?
In any case can’t wait for some more machines or whatever they’re cooking for the DN2!
Been using both dt2/dn2 and they are great machines for music making as they are. Any additional update is icing on the cake.
I would love a simple sample loading update on the DN2 like the syntakt, maybe in the drum machine, so i can load my own transients/sounds.
Elektron have a track record of consistently bringing new features to devices that have been in the market for a long time, the latest - quite significant! - update to Syntakt, giving it a super interesting twist on sample playback, is a testament to their commitment. I a pretty sure they are aware how much appreciated this commitment by their user base and I doubt they will change that. It might be a long time until we get more updates, I agree on that, but then there isn’t much I’m currently missing from DT2/DN2.
Existing feature request threads:
I am afraid this one here is a philosophical thread along the lines of “justice as fairness” in everyday life? Redistribution of love and stuff like that. DN2 feature requests are discussed here perhaps: Digitone II Feature Requests
Personally I believe in the power of love. It will shine through eventually ![]()
I think it’s misleading to compare TV which got a lot of substantial and smaller updates since launch with a lack of updates on DN2 and DT2. The digi updates were pretty much feature complete when they launched and had almost no bugs. TV was launched prematurely, and the updates since launch arguably just implemented features and brought stability that they had probably planned to have ready for launch. So complaining about a lack of updates on the digis is a bit like wishing they should have launched these in a beta state.
The better comparison would be with every other Elektron, and I think it usually takes a few years into a machine’s lifecycle before it gets anything really new that changes what you can do with the machine. In that sense, slices for DT II actually came quite early (and were maybe also initially planned for launch).
For me, it would be enough if the DT2 had polyphony; with 16 tracks, it would be a beast to make complete songs. As it is, I’ve already started not using it, first for the DN2 and now for the TV. All these instruments came out in the space of a couple of years, all beautiful, but they’re a lot of stuff, and with all of them you always end up thinking: if it had the features of that other one… let them make a €2000 Elektron and I’ll sell the whole thing ![]()
Elektron:
"Check out our premier synth! It’s got:
- 16 voice polyphony
- FM + 4 other synthesis types
- 3 LFOs
- 16 tracks for sequencing or MIDI
- Delay, Reverb, and Chorus as Send FX
- etc etc etc
"
Users: “But what have you done for me lately?”

I think folks would be a lot less anxious of they assumed every piece of gear they bought was essentially feature complete at purchase, and the only updates they were likely to see were bug fixes. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy when we get new functionality on gear. And Elektron has historically been one of the better manufacturers in this regard. But if you find it severely lacking in some respect on day 1 of ownership, you’re likely to be disappointed in the long term. Better to return it / sell it / trade it if you can and find an instrument you do love!
No for sure. And there is also Beta Overbridge.
Are your DT2 / DN2 buggy ?
Missing something in particular ?
Just want an update because others had one ?
I have no problem with my DN2, I think the priority is TV, then Octatrack…Analogs…Syntakt as last one. : )
Octatrack OS 1.40A
December 2020
Digitakt II OS 1.15B
July 28, 2025
Digitone II OS 1.10D

Hitting the nail on the head with surgical precision.
Short answer is YES , dn2 feels finished and operational, tonverk is not and we are still waiting for overbridge.
Maybe I’m not as demanding a customer as I should, but I feel DN2 is pretty much a full package right now. I’ll welcome with open arms and a kind heart anything Elektron might want to add to it (a physical modelling engine? That would be nice), but I also think that DN2 as is now is an amazing synth and I personally couldn’t be happier with it.
I can’t speak for the DT2, since I don’t have one.
