No, I don’t grow my own Ayahuasca, yet, for many reasons.
I don’t live in a suitable climate (south of France/Spain, too dry, not hot enough all year round).
Also, it takes too long to grow a plant big enough to make ceremonies with.
And sourcing the seeds is more difficult than many other plants (I know of no one growing his own Ayahuasca, BTW)
Then, Ayahuasca is not the only plant used in a mixture, you also need a source of DMT, so either mimosa hostilis or chacruna / chapropanga, with the same issues as Ayahuasca (sourcing seeds, climate, production and time).
You don’t need to go to Peru to find Ayahuasca, though, as both plants are available online for reasonable fees, but then, you have 2 other problems : cooking it right (not that easy if you don’t have any prior experience), drinking a mixture of unknown potency, and most importantly, without the guidance of an experienced shaman. A good shaman is more than half the experience, and drinking alone can be too intense and dangerous or even life threatening. Ayahuasca is a very complex technology
Good news is : you don’t need Ayahuasca to have a deep shamanic experience/healing.
If you’re alone on this, it will be much easier to grow mushrooms (small footprint, big production in 6 weeks from scratch, no need for other plants, spores easy to score on the interwebs), and much more feasible to manage the “trip” alone.
All entheogenic plants can take you to the same places…
I did my apprenticeship with Ayahuasca, mushrooms and cactus, and the work is the same - though my peruvian master did advise me to try to stick to one plant.
I recently introduced 2 shaman friends with extensive experience in Ayahuasca (they learned with shamans in Peru) to the mushrooms, and they loved it so much that they don’t want to work with Ayahuasca anymore and switched exclusively to the shrooms.
They find the mushrooms much smoother and much less violent than Ayahuasca, though Ayahuasca is wonderful and full of love too.
They probably wouldn’t have got to where they are without Her.
I’d strongly encourage you to find a local shaman who’s working with plants (Ayahuasca or cactus - I know only of one shaman besides myself who works with mushrooms, and he was my master too) to have a first experience in shamanic ceremonies first, though… I find the rituals very important in order to work with respect for Yourself.
But once you’ve witnessed a real traditional ceremony, nothing stops you from doing the same on your own… with shrooms.
For more specific advice, should you want it, you can always PM me.
Much Love <3
