Most of my spare time has been spent with my bands, rehearsing and touring. Fortunately it is also a hobby!

Travelling is the ultimate hobby/goal, other than that the usual: girlfriend, exercise, movies, (comic)books and videogames and maintaining friendships.

a girlfriend is a job for me, they end up paying all my bills,

there is a reason why a guy who is 30, me, who has worked less than a year his whole life,

has the cash for a few elektron boxes, tempests, macs, tc elec gear, and i live in my own house alone, its great…

and…reading is the only other hobby i can think of.

i guess it’s music-related, but i do like to go out dancing.

if i had any money, travel would be up there.

…can’t really separate hobbies/obsessions from the daily work…they kind of melted together in the past few years (or at least i’m trying to get them to go in one direction): programming, music and electronics… (some others just simply faded slowly away)
trying to get back on track with sports as well (sitting on a chair for most of the day doesn’t really help ) … other than this: food!

Ive been training submission wrestling, MMA & BJJ for about 6-7 years. I’m blue going on purple standard but I don’t train enough GI or enter enough comps to get the purple belt (Which annoys my main coach :P).

Nice, you’re pretty good then! I always got trashed by the blue-belts at my club, not to mention the purple guys, they were basically just relaxing trying out how little effort they had to put in in order to submit me, haha.

Writing fiction. I’ve been told before I need to try and get published, so I guess I’m pretty good at it. It certainly comes more naturally/easier than music

I’ve also been getting into photography and digital art via manipulation (I can’t freehand draw to save my life as much as I want to be good at it. No amount of practice fixes this lol)

then you should embrace it imo. it’s such a great form of expression… when you can really say what you need and want to say it’s just the biggest win. such a great way to learn and experience.

i’ve tried at times… still dabble when i feel i need to but it’s difficult. being an avid reader of fiction i have the highest respect for people who can do it and do it well.

Oh, I write a lot more than I music. I have a novel I’m working on. Music is actually the “other” hobby for me, which is part of why I’ve been considering retreating back into the box. It’s hard for me to justify spending so much on a secondary hobby/passion. Luckily the primary one costs very little.

But I digress.

I’m practicing yoga to stretch after sitting in the studio and at work for so long.

Got into board games to avoid watching the screen.

And into modular synths from the similar reason
Music is main passion though. I spend most of my time either making it, promoting it or applying for funding to play more.

During the day I work at a music software company, so that’s kind of a hobby / job combination (SCORE!!), and in the evenings, I read - stuff I wish I could understand better (gnarly physics-type stuff), and bucketloads of fiction - and I dabble in writing and picture-type stuff. Never got around to having anything published (aside from some album / single covers and posters for artist friends) because I just don’t have the passion I did when I was younger and brighter-eyed.

I used to play guitar a lot, but these days I’m more of a guitar owner than a guitar player. One of these days I’m going to buy a bass.

In the winter I snowboard, and drink beer indoors, and in the summer I nurse my bruises and sprains, and drink beer outdoors. Boats are pretty cool, too, but I can’t afford to own one.

I’m surprised and intrigued (and pleasantly freaked!) by the number of martial arts and mind-expanding-drugs people in here. And with that in mind, I will make it a point to never ever heckle anyone who is playing live with an Elektron box.

I work in events management sometimes, I usually make prints, painting, and sculpture but I’m having a break at the moment, I do massage therapy and other esoteric bodywork forms, sound installation, speak a hereditary language known only by a half dozen people, and speak daily with dead people and invisible masters (some of my best friends and teachers)
