What's your latest purchase & what are your intentions with it? [pics ftw] (Part 1)

I needed a temperature regulated magnetically absent screwdriver for my old model D.
Actually, it was just a modified toothbrush that I kept sticky taped to the back of it.
But if you told me all I had to do was burn a Goat and dance in my undies, I’d do it!

I bought a used Lyra 8 and this thing is pure analog insanity. It feels like a real instrument and as Loopop said: after twisting some knobs for a while, you really feel the urge to smoke a cigarette. I don’t know how to use it in a song context just know, but playing with it is just pure fun and that’s what it’s all about

Also it’s just beautiful and built like a Russian tank!

Ok. This is a serious instrument. I played with it for hours last night. I’m glad I’ve watched some videos before (Loopop, Red Means Recording), I knew my way around. It has nothing to do with the first Blips and Bloops videos that I’ve watched when it officially came out. I like the fact that it’s a Live instrument, it forces you to Record something.

I got to say, even if the primary Tones are rich and sound very good (it’s a Moog after all), that it benefits highly from a Delay and/or a Reverb (or any FX). Maybe that’s why the first videos were less attractive (at least, for me).

For the moment, my routing is :

Subharmonicon > EHX Platform (Comp/Dist) > Nemesis Delay > Ventris Reverb

Got the summit yesterday. It sounds great and is inspiring to program, but one of the knobs is acting up. The chorus level value changes when I’m not touching it (shows on screen) as well as acting sketch sometimes (skipping values) when using it. I tried updating the firmware and using the on board calibration.
I’m guessing this isn’t the kind of thing that works itself out and I should get it exchanged … gosh.

Definitely sounds like a warranty fix. Fortunately Novation’s customer service is tip top in my experience, should you need to deal with them.

The EC4 is so interesting looking. Could use one, to control UHE Diva with it. Are you satisfied with the quality of knobs and what faults did you find with it, if any?

I feel its a bit too expensive, but if the quality is really good then it’s worth it.

Yes the SubH absolutely needs FX to make it shine, agreed. I usually use it with my A4 and use its FX, but a Ventris reverb would be super nice…

The quality is good, feels well built, the screen is great, it’s relatively easy to program. But the encoders don’t have a super smooth feel- not as nice feeling as those on Elektron gear.

FAIL: Electribe turned to be not suitable for that, because its Audio In renders stereo to mono. this is frustrating, because Electribe’s emulations of classic filters are really excellent.

will use Nova Laptop for processing B4000+ for a while, until i buy something smaller and with standard PSU.

Just purchased the Imitone voice to Midi software (Beta) for 25 Buckerinos. Plan is to hum in leads and basslines and see what funky stuff I can get into the daw. Will be experimenting with a combination of cuthulhu too.

Was just going to buy the original grey to go with my A4, but got one of the last black models apparently (shipped today). Sold a bunch of old gear to fund this purchase and I am hoping the Rytm is more immediate/playable/fun than my original drum section.

Did it come with new OS?

No I’ve just updated it to the latest and loving overbridge it was on 1.01 so a nice step up

What? Brand new unit on 1.01?

Must have been an old release of stock. I did get it cheaper than everywhere else. Does it make a difference do you think?

No
