Missing the key point though, “in an Elektron box”.
I’m well aware of Max, M4L integration into Ableton hardware and the various Raspberry Pi things you can get to run max/Puredata patches on. The conversation is about what Elektron does next and what we would want from that.
If the low end stuff is selling well, I’d hope that a refresh to the Model range is one the cards.
Samples wish list: simple AD envelope (attack could even be Function+Decay), USBc class compliant audio, 128MB ram please. Stereo samples nice but not essential, LFO to multiple destinations or even a second LFO would be lush.
Cycles: same HW improvements and a cut down TV wave type machine perhaps?
With the move to a linux-based platform with the tonverk, I would love Elektron to explore producing an open-hardware platform, in the same spirit as the TBD-16/Korg-NTS:
Digi format for the case and controls
Built-in elektron sequencer with p-locks, midi machines
C++ SDK for machines (source, FX, filters)
OSS Linux platform
The groovebox “control” core would be there, with user-uploadable machines akin to what korg proposes with their Logue/NTS SDK. It doesn’t even have to be fully open, even limited user slots for machines would be fine.
Just pop them out on one edge with a thin flat screwdriver (or something similar made of rigid plastic would be more ideal to prevent the possibility of scratching).
i would like elektron to go old school knob per function starting with a playable mono synth using their dual vco from the rytm - but with a stable/unstable option like it was before they fixed the tuning and after and obvs include the distortion and delay - and make it fucking cheap too, so anyone can buy it
