What's better than a4 mk1? a4 mk1 x2! anybody?

anybody rocking a4 mk1 x 2?
seems like a no brainer at the current prices you can get two mk1 for the price of one mk2
my 2nd one is coming in the post firstly because a friend wanted me to teach and he didn’t have one so if it goes well i suppose it he will buy it off me, but is anybody using 2 as a staple musical diet? and if so how?

I personally find the sound, encoders and screen on the MK2 to be vastly superior and would take a mk2 over 2 mk1s any day. A much better user experience imo, which translates into better music

I can’t agree more. The MK2 user experience is miles better. The Oled display provides valuable feedback. Also note that the overdrive section on the LP filter of the MK2 has been reworked.

A4 Mk2

In this thread, people who lack basic reading comprehension.

I think two A4s could work together beautifully, just matching projects and patterns between the devices. I’d probably have one on full time drum duty if I decided to do that.

I know I’ve seen someone around here with two Analog Keys side by side too.

I agree. Use your ears instead of relying on visual feedback. Two MK1s is a no brainer.

OP mentioned the price comparison to a mk2 so perhaps the lack of basic reading comprehension is a statement better suited for yourself.

well, a4 mk1? a4 mk1 x2! a4 mk1 x2 2nd mk2 2…

my adhd all over the place and I had to re-read many times until my brain comprehended that:

two Analog Four mk1 units cost as much as one Analog Four mk2 unit, and some people would prefer double mk1 but some would prefer single mk2 because of the screen/encoders/etc, but OP is looking for more people using double mk1 setup.

but the title and the OP was a real roller coaster.

Yes, 2 x a4 mk1 here. The good thing is, that Overbridge allows both of them to work simultaneously. I like to bring them together in Native Instruments KORE, layer with another virtual synth and add FX. Mapping incoming MIDI is quick and easy in KORE. All this basically gives me an eight voice analog + digital hybrid synth with total recall across different DAW sessions.

@Sternenlicht is/was using two of 'em, if I remember correctly.

Sorry for off topic, but how you use Kore nowadays? I thought it’s completely abandoned and useless with current os, and I think I almost made an mixedmedia art object out of my Kore2) liked how it sounded and the UI. Would love to find out that it’s still possible to use on recent hardware/software

As an Analog Keys owner…i’m very tempted to have a second one.

I use 2x A4, one is the “one shot” fx box, i.e. creates random sounds (drum or fx shot) with sound lock, and probability, the other one is doing some short acid sequences, which repeates. Its quiete useful in this regard.

My setup is still based on Windows 7 and you are probably right, looks like KORE doesn’t work with Windows 10.

Maybe you could get similar results with MASCHINE or Blue Cat Audio PatchWork, but I think KORE has faster workflow.

how does ob do this?
two a4 windows?
please screen shot

2 x a4 mk1 in KORE with MIDI filters (= keyboard split). Please keep in mind that you must copy your preset from the first a4 to the second one with Elektron Transfer. Then you can address eight voices, which also can be panned in the stereo field. And you have total recall of course, when you save everything as a new sound.

Points for using this word in this way.

If I were feeling limited by the four tracks on my A4mk1, I could see picking up a second one, and would also probably divide them into drum/FX and melodic.
