I’m looking to explore more open-source effects (especially GitHub projects) that people are using, learning from, or building into their setups.
If you know of any cool open-source audio effects, plugins, Max for Live patches, Pure Data patches, VCV Rack modules, LV2/VST projects, or DSP experiments on GitHub, please drop a link and a short description of what it does. Any tips for using or building it
Looking forward to the answers as well. I follow Linux DAW with curiosity (the link has a filter for FOSS projects only). From time to time I try something but I always go back to my DAW’s native plugins, more out of my own laziness and inertia than based on the objective merits of the plugin.
By the way, when you say “GitHub” do you really mean that, or any “public source code repository” would do? I mean, there is a lot more than GitHub, even if this (corporate, proprietary, GAFAM…) platform ended up being so predominant.
Yeah, good point. I mostly said GitHub as shorthand, but any public repo works (GitLab, Codeberg, etc.).
And same here, I often fall back to native plugins too — that’s partly why I’m curious what open-source stuff people actually keep using or building on.
