Random LFO to Sample Start, or really Slice.
One neat way is to use two LFO for having smaller modulation values range.
One LFO designer with offset or whatever drawn wave with values smaller than the 0-127 range. There is a really nice thread somewhere…i dont remember where…(sure on the old forum)
And another LFO to modulate the depth of the first. So this way, for example, you can subtle modulate PITCH.
The “problem” with modulations in general is that all depends from the source material. There could be a first-go path (like i always start with modulating Filter Width and Volume for the common oldies modulations) but soon…i can follow different directions depending on what i need in that particular moment or getting suggested by the sounding material.
I like using the LFOs to automate frequency shifts or volume shifts on different tracks. Say you put an LFO to modulate cutting the mid-range EQ on track 1, while cutting the hi-range EQ on track 2 etc, and either do them in the same phase, or slightly off-phase, you can get some pretty nice movement into the music or just a simple loop. Same with volume or different filter settings.
Also, randomizing the slice/start function (especially when assigning this to the crossfader) can be pretty cool.
