What is your #1 electronic music in terms of how well it’s mixed/mastered?

Theres something sterile about mixing and mastering electronic music to its fullest degree. The more i see this the more i think creativity takes a backwards step. I see guys tweaking every ripple trough and peak and it sort of destroys my interest. Maybe just me.

especailly the 4th. So much detail in sound, the drums are just so dynamic with still lot of transients coming through and great work on the stereo image. Its such a listening pleasure on headphones. BUT for my taste maybe a touch of to much use of harmonizer / pitch shifter fx on the voice of Sascha / Apparat. For me thats one key element of the prevoius albums I - III. But thats the only downside for me.

ZZ Top - Legs.

Yeah I was gonna bring the Collapse EP up, the mix translated to the tape is also pretty stunning, you can tell a lot if care went into dubbing those.

Seconded.

I’m gonna chuck in Hybrid - Wide Angle too

Agreed. I can’t wait to see their show in October in Montreal.

Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk have it down quite well considering how far ahead of time these groups were before modern technology.

Anything related to Traumprinz, Prince of Denmark, Prime Minister of Doom, DJ Healer, DJ Metatron, Golden Baby, Irini… you name it .

Then I’ll add Hybrid - I Choose Noise as well.

On HQ headphones / monitors you can hear loads of compression artefacts, but it sounds great in a car or on mediocre speakers - PA.

ive probably posted before but the Gaming - scenes from a deserted city album is really nice.
i think radioactive man mixed/engineered it.
i’d post a link but searing for it in youtube shows a lot of gaming videos…

not number 1 … that changes quite often.

that DJRUM - creature track sounds great too.

Kool keith - official space tape

Sounds as if its ran thru a bbe sonic maximizer or some kind of crappy “mastering” box. Love that in your face compressed diy master sound

exactly what I was thinking

Not a huge fan of all his tunes but Griz’s records seem to have another dimension one doesn’t here that often.

Same here. I love brainwaltzera’s production style, imperfect but really warm sounding.

going over these…seems im a fan of panning…tite bass

i like when the person in charge of capture what you can hear catch the intentions of the performer.

i mean, when people can record an entire album and makes the leap over every other buzz of this overwhelming comercial machinery with simple tools like inventiveness and the according taste you like its remarkable and it should be always the aim of the ultimate goal, not to like everyone, but just do it because you cant do anything else besides.

my favourite electronicmastering will be always food for animals
