press N turn off Snap to grid, press 3, make cuts, press 1 and select/delete what you don’t need, turn Snap back on with N and arrange, highlight it all and ctrl/cmd-b, you can normalize if you like, too, before dropping it via the Browser into the folder you collect chains in. Or just drag them to equidistant points, highlight, and bounce.
