I’d suggest they listen to this whilst I work on an explanation…
This is about as proper as I can imagine

I don’t think listening is enough… techno is not.a passive activity, it must be “experienced”
Whilst I get where you are coming from, and taking the creature to some live techno to ‘‘experience’’ it would be beneficial… Experiencing Techno is very subjective.
At 40, I’ve experienced the fuck out of Techno, at shows and raves, in all sorts of states of consciousness.
Now I experience it through active listening in my headphones, in meditative states, whilst comfortable. It’s equally as valuable to me at this point of life, now I can’t be arsed going to clubs anymore.
A purpose in life.
Culture.
One of the great youth movements of recent times (and it still is).
A network that combines many musical, social and political factors.
A ritual that is ancient in its practice, sweating, ecstatic bodies to stomping beats,
and thus an analogy to our roots.
A parable that often ends, however, when the music is off and can therefore be internalized, stimulates creativity, creates a sense of justice…
And for many, it’s just music.
Repetitive

I’d just slap them on my headphones and play some music. While it may be possible to describe art with words, you will never understand it completely unless you experience it.
Who knows, techno has, like many other electronic genres, branched out into 100+ microgenres that people also call techno.
People considered SAW 85-92 techno at the time, now though? Not so sure it would be considered techno.
When I think of techno I think of repetitive four on the floor’s, dark atmospheres and ofc: people getting rejected at Berghain after 3hrs of being on their best behavior.
Is this techno? Acid? Or world music?
I was reading an old Muzik Magazine issue mainly to read a Carl Cox interview. But here i am now:
If you are interested, all issues are free to download.

Techno is… selected ambient works
Lol@ too male
For me techno was always something tribal, prehistoric in humans, simple inner rythm just done by a machine.
Maybe even a merge of two, human and a machine
and ambient is… ?
It’s annoying that it works but this is an approximate representation using text:

Onomatopoeia FTW
I believe it’s short for “technical” / “technology” / “technological”.
